Astarion (Rogue)
Astarion is a High Elf vampire and potential Companion found west of the Intellect Devourer encounter, near a destroyed Nautiloid wreck (X:176 Y:284). He pretends to be cornering an Intellect Devourer and asks for help. Your choices during this initial interaction determine how he reacts and if he joins your party. Engaging with him carefully can lead to him becoming a valuable ally.
After defeating the Intellect Devourers, head west along the main path to find Astarion. He will be calling for help, claiming to have cornered an Intellect Devourer in the grass. You have three initial dialogue options:
- Easily. Stand back.
- Kill it yourself - you look capable enough.
- Leave.
Choosing "Easily. Stand back." reveals his trap as a boar emerges, and Astarion takes a defensive stance with his dagger. This leads to further dialogue options:
- Put it away. We don't need to fight.
- If this is a robbery, you're off to a bad start, elf.
- One more step and I'll make you eat that knife.
Selecting "Put it away. We don't need to fight." makes Astarion suspicious, as he saw you exit the mind flayer ship. He is then interrupted by the worms in your brains. He asks what happened, and you can choose from:
- It's the mind flayer's worm - it connected us.
- Honestly? I have no idea.
- Put the knife away and I'll tell you everything.
If you choose "It's the mind flayer's worm - it connected us.", Astarion calms down and apologizes. You then have these options:
- Apology accepted. I might have done the same were the roles reversed.
- Glad to see we're all caught up now.
- You'd better have more to offer than 'apologies'.
If you choose the second option, "Glad to see we're all caught up now.", Astarion will introduce himself.
