Walkthrough

Welcome to the Baldur's Gate 3 walkthrough, designed to guide you through the main story campaign. This guide will also cover important sidequests, companion quests, and provide insights into character and party builds. Baldur's Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, uses an adapted version of the Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition rule set, set 100 years after the events of Baldur's Gate II.

The walkthrough focuses on the main questline and significant quests in a recommended order of locations. For detailed information on specific events, dialogues, and encounters within a location, refer to the Locations page or the Quests page for individual quest walkthroughs.

Opening Sequence: The Nautiloid

After the initial events, you will encounter a brain. If you choose to spare it, the brain will instruct you to proceed to the helm. You have several dialogue options during this conversation, all leading to the same objective. If you decide to help the brain, it will become a follower. Allies who temporarily join your party can be controlled by clicking on their character portrait on the left side of the screen. Dialogue options include:

  1. Control it? We need to get rid of it.
  2. You should travel with me. Our odds are better together.
  3. I need to get moving, but you can shelter at my camp.
  4. I've wasted enough time here. Farewell.

If you choose to have the brain travel with you, or shelter at your camp, it will become an ally. Otherwise, you can choose to leave it behind.
