Trademeet Quests
The desert oasis town of Trademeet, nestled amidst the harsh sands, presents a series of interconnected quests that are both narratively rich and highly rewarding. Before venturing too deep into the main storyline of Shadows of Amn, a detour to Trademeet is highly recommended. Not only will you gain significant experience and valuable magical items, but you'll also influence the fate of this unique community. Be prepared for encounters with powerful beasts, cunning humanoids, and ancient magical entities. A party with strong crowd control, elemental resistance, and reliable damage output will thrive here.
The Trademeet Crisis: Investigating the Monster Attacks
Upon entering Trademeet, you'll immediately sense the town's distress. Monsters are attacking, and the local authorities are at a loss. Your first objective is to speak with the town's leaders to understand the situation.
Initial Investigation & Meeting the Council
- Location: Trademeet Central Square
- Key NPCs:
- Logan Coprith: The town elder, found near the central fountain. He will explain the monster attacks and the town's dwindling resources.
- Guildmaster Buszo: The leader of the merchant guild, also in the square. He's concerned about trade disruptions.
- Quest Start: Logan will ask you to investigate the source of the monster attacks.
Tracking the Monsters to the Druid Grove
The trail of monster attacks leads directly to the nearby Druid Grove, a place traditionally peaceful but now seemingly corrupted.
- Location: Trademeet - Druid Grove (exit Trademeet to the east)
- Enemies: Various animals (bears, wolves, worgs), Trolls, Ogrillons, and eventually, corrupted Druids.
- Strategy:
- Trolls are vulnerable to fire and acid damage. Ensure you have spells like Burning Hands, Flame Arrow, or acid-based attacks.
- Be wary of ambushes. The grove is dense with foliage.
- Key Encounter: You'll eventually confront a group of corrupted Druids led by a powerful figure. They are casting spells that are driving the animals mad.
Confronting the Corrupted Druids
Deep within the Grove, you'll discover the source of the corruption: a group of Shadow Druids, led by a particularly nasty individual.
- Location: Deep within the Druid Grove
- Key NPC/Enemy: Cernd (a good-aligned Druid who can join your party) and the Shadow Druid Leader.
- Steps:
- You'll encounter Cernd, who is trying to stop the Shadow Druids. He can join your party here, or you can proceed without him.
- Confront the Shadow Druid Leader. They will likely summon powerful nature allies.
- Defeat the Shadow Druids. Focus fire on the spellcasters first. Dispel Magic can be very effective against their buffs and summoned creatures.
- Rewards (from Shadow Druids): Various magical items, gold, and experience.
The Djinni's Plight: The Genie and the Rakshasa
After dealing with the Druid Grove, return to Trademeet. Logan will inform you of a new, more pressing issue: a powerful Djinni has appeared, demanding justice.
Meeting the Djinni
- Location: Trademeet Central Square
- Key NPC: Khan Zahraa (the Djinni)
- Quest Start: Khan Zahraa will explain that his master, a powerful Genie, has been imprisoned by a Rakshasa named Ithafeer. He demands that you retrieve his master's flask.
Journey to the Rakshasa's Lair
Ithafeer's lair is located in the hills to the west of Trademeet.
- Location: Trademeet - Rakshasa's Lair (exit Trademeet to the west)
- Enemies: Various desert creatures, including more Trolls, Yuan-ti, and eventually, the Rakshasa's minions.
- Common Pitfalls: The area leading to the lair can be tricky. Yuan-ti often cast spells, and their poison attacks can be debilitating. Have antidotes ready.
Confronting Ithafeer, the Rakshasa
The Rakshasa is a formidable foe, known for its magical prowess and resistance to many forms of damage.
- Location: Inside Ithafeer's Lair
- Key Enemy: Ithafeer (Rakshasa)
- Strategy for Ithafeer:
- Rakshasas are immune to spells of level 1-8. This is crucial. Only level 9 spells (like Meteor Swarm, Time Stop, Gate) or physical attacks will harm them.
- Use powerful melee attackers: Equip your best weapons, especially those with high enchantment bonuses (+3 or higher is ideal).
- Buff your party: Cast spells like Haste, Stoneskin, Protection from Evil, and Aid on your melee characters.
- Debuff Ithafeer (if possible): While immune to direct damage spells, some debuffs might still affect him if they are not direct damage or are level 9. However, focus on physical damage.
- Summon allies: Summons can distract Ithafeer and absorb some of his attacks.
- Objective: Defeat Ithafeer and retrieve the Djinni's Flask.
Returning the Flask and Resolving the Crisis
With the Djinni's Flask in hand, return to Trademeet.
- Location: Trademeet Central Square
- Key NPCs: Khan Zahraa, Logan Coprith
- Steps:
- Present the Djinni's Flask to Khan Zahraa.
- He will release his master, the Greater Djinni.
- The Greater Djinni will offer you a reward and thank you for your service.
- Speak to Logan Coprith to officially conclude the Trademeet questline.
