Prosper Bluff serves as your formal introduction to Secret Skills, powerful limited-use abilities fueled by Black Tonics. As you navigate the winding paths of this district, you will encounter a pedestal containing the Whirlwind Secret Skill for the Cael Hammer. This is the first skill you will acquire, and it is mandatory for clearing the dense groups of enemies ahead.
Acquiring and Using Whirlwind
To acquire the skill, simply walk up to the glowing pedestal. Once equipped, you can activate Whirlwind by pressing the assigned skill button (consuming one Black Tonic). This move causes The Kid to spin violently with the Cael Hammer, dealing continuous 360-degree damage to everything in his immediate vicinity.
Level Strategy and Enemy Tips
- Crowd Control: Prosper Bluff introduces high-density mobs of Squirts. Do not waste your Secret Skill on single targets. Wait until you are surrounded, then trigger Whirlwind to clear the entire pack instantly.
- Black Tonic Management: Keep an eye out for blue crates and flasks. These replenish your tonics. Since this level is a tutorial for the mechanic, the game provides an abundance of drops—don't be afraid to use your skill frequently.
- The Gasfellas: Use the Whirlwind skill to bypass the frontal defenses of Gasfellas. The spin animation allows you to hit their vulnerable sides and back even if they are mid-swing.
- Environmental Hazards: Watch your footing. The paths in Prosper Bluff are narrow and prone to falling away. Use the brief invulnerability frames during the Whirlwind animation to safely reposition yourself when cornered near an edge.
By the end of the level, you will have mastered the basic flow of combat: building up enemies, repositioning with rolls, and unleashing a Secret Skill to reset the battlefield.
