Batman: Arkham Origins features a robust multiplayer component that allows players to step into the shoes of either Batman, Robin, or members of the Joker's or Black Mask's gangs. These modes offer a unique twist on the Arkham combat and stealth mechanics, pitting players against each other in dynamic team-based scenarios.

Heroes vs. Villains (3v3v2)

This is the core multiplayer experience. Two teams of villains, one loyal to the Joker and the other to Black Mask, battle it out. The objective for the gangs is to eliminate the opposing gang and capture desated control points on the map. The twist comes with the introduction of Batman and Robin. These two heroes are not on opposing teams but rather act as independent forces aiming to disrupt the gang war. If the gangs fail to eliminate Batman and Robin within a certain time limit, the heroes win. Conversely, if the gangs successfully eliminate both heroes, they then turn their attention to eliminating the remaining enemy gang members to secure victory.

Gameplay Mechanics

Gang Members: Players controlling gang members have access to several weapons, including firearms and melee weapons. They can use cover, flank enemies, and work together to overwhelm opponents. The combat is fast-paced and requires good teamwork and situational awareness. Special abilities and perks can be unlocked and equipped to customize your gang member.

Batman and Robin: Playing as Batman or Robin offers a stealth-focused experience. You can use their gadgets, perform silent takedowns, and use the Freeflow Combat system. They are sificantly more powerful than individual gang members but are outnumbered. Their goal is to sow chaos and eliminate key targets, forcing the gangs to divert their attention. Their unique gadgets, like the Batclaw and Batarangs, are crucial for their effectiveness.

Objectives and Winning Conditions

  • Gang Objectives: Capture and hold control points, eliminate rival gang members, and, most importantly, take down Batman and Robin.
  • Hero Objectives: Disrupt the gang war, eliminate key gang members, and survive the onslaught.
  • Victory: Achieved by either the gangs eliminating Batman and Robin and then the opposing gang, or by Batman and Robin surviving long enough to win by default.

Progression and Customization

As you play multiplayer matches, you'll earn experience points that allow you to level up. Leveling up unlocks new weapons, gadgets, perks, and cosmetic customization options for both your gang members and your heroes. This progression system encourages replayability and allows players to tailor their loadouts to their preferred playstyle.
