Mastering Anti-Vehicle Combat

Effectively engaging and destroying enemy vehicles is a critical skill in Battlefield 4's multiplayer, especially on larger maps where armor and air power play a sificant role. As an Engineer, you are the primary counter to enemy vehicles, armed with a suite of potent anti-vehicle gadgets.

Rocket Launchers:

  • RPG-7V2: The standard anti-tank rocket launcher. It fires a projectile that deals sificant damage to vehicles. Aim for critical hit zones like the rear or sides of tanks for maximum effect. It's effective against most ground vehicles but requires careful aiming and often multiple hits.
  • FGM-148 Javelin: This is a fire-and-forget missile. After locking onto a target, you can take cover while the missile guides itself. It's excellent for engaging distant or well-defended vehicles, but the lock-on time can be a vulnerability.
  • NLAW: Similar to the Javelin, the NLAW offers a top-attack mode, which is particularly devastating against tanks by hitting their less armored top plating.
  • Stinger/IGLA: These are primarily for anti-air engagements, effective against helicopters and jets. They require a lock-on before firing.

Other Anti-Vehicle Tools:

  • Repair Tool: While not for destruction, the Repair Tool is vital for keeping friendly vehicles alive. An Engineer constantly repairing a tank or IFV can make it incredibly difficult for the enemy to destroy.
  • Mines: AT Mines can be placed on roads or choke points to catch unsuspecting enemy vehicles. They are particularly effective against tanks and LAVs.
  • SMAW: A powerful rocket launcher that can be used against both ground and air targets, though it's generally more effective against ground vehicles.

Advanced Tactics:

  • Target Prioritization: Identify the most immediate threats. Is an enemy tank pushing your objective? Is a helicopter dominating the skies? Focus your efforts accordingly.
  • Flanking and Positioning: Don't engage vehicles head-on if you can avoid it. Use cover and flanking routes to get into a better position for a critical hit.
  • Teamwork: Coordinate with other Engineers. One player can draw the vehicle's attention while another flanks for a devastating attack. If you're in a friendly vehicle, communicate with your Engineer for repairs.
  • Ammo Management: Rockets and mines are limited. Ensure you have an Support player nearby to resupply you, or pick up ammo crates strategically.

Mastering these tools and tactics will make you an invaluable asset to your team, capable of turning the tide of battle against even the most formidable enemy armor and aircraft.
