Vehicle combat is a defining element of Battlefield V, offering players the chance to dominate the battlefield with tanks, aircraft, and transports. Mastering these machines requires understanding their strengths, weaknesses, and how to effectively counter enemy vehicles.
Tank Warfare
Tanks are the kings of the ground, capable of dishing out immense damage and withstanding sificant punishment. However, they are not invincible. Light tanks are agile and excel at flanking and harassing infantry, while heavy tanks are slow but pack a devastating punch. Always be aware of your surroundings. Anti-tank infantry, particularly those wielding the PIAT or Panzerfaust, are your greatest threat. Utilize cover effectively, especially when reloading or repairing. For heavy tanks, targeting enemy tanks' tracks can immobilize them, making them easy targets. Conversely, when facing a heavy tank, aim for the tracks or the rear armor for maximum damage.
Aerial Dominance
Aircraft, including fighter planes and bombers, can control the skies and provide crucial support to ground forces. Fighter planes are desed for air-to-air combat, dogfighting enemy aircraft to deny them the skies. Bombers, on the other hand, are built for ground attack, capable of devastating enemy fortifications and vehicles with their ordnance. Be mindful of anti-aircraft emplacements and enemy fighter patrols. For bomber pilots, identifying high-value targets like enemy tanks or groups of infantry is key. Fighter pilots should prioritize taking down enemy bombers and fighters that threaten their team.
Transport Vehicles
Transport vehicles, such as jeeps and halftracks, are vital for rapid redeployment and flanking maneuvers. While not heavily armed, they can carry multiple squadmates, allowing for quick assaults on objectives or swift retreats. Their speed and maneuverability make them excellent for scouting and repositioning. However, they are vulnerable to concentrated infantry fire and explosives, so use them wisely and avoid prolonged exposure in open areas.
Countering Vehicles
As infantry, you have several tools to combat enemy vehicles. The PIAT and Panzerfaust are powerful anti-tank weapons that can disable or destroy vehicles with direct hits. Explosive charges can also be placed on vehicles if you can get close enough. For aircraft, stationary anti-aircraft guns are effective, and skilled infantry can also use their primary weapons to damage planes, especially during low passes.
