Ancient Guanyin Temple
Welcome, aspiring Sage, to the Ancient Guanyin Temple! This hallowed ground, though seemingly peaceful, harbors secrets and challenges that will test your growing abilities. Prepare for a mix of stealth, puzzle-solving, and combat as you navigate its sacred halls.

Initial Approach and Temple Grounds
- Upon entering the Ancient Guanyin Temple area, you'll find yourself on a winding path. Keep an eye out for patrolling Temple Guardians – these are often monks imbued with minor spiritual energy. They are not overly aggressive but can raise an alarm if they spot you.
- Stealth is Key: use the surrounding foliage and the temple's architecture for cover. A well-timed Shadow Dash can get you past patrols undetected.
- Hidden Item: Before entering the main temple structure, search the small garden to the left of the main entrance. You can find a Jade Prayer Bead tucked behind a large stone lantern. These are valuable for crafting or trading later.
Inside the Main Hall
The main hall is a large, open area with several smaller rooms branching off. Your primary objective here is to find the Sacred Incense Burner.
- First Encounter: As you step inside, you'll likely encounter a group of Devoted Acolytes performing a ritual. They are easily dispatched with a few quick strikes, but be wary of their chanting, which can buff nearby enemies if not interrupted.
- Puzzle - Bell Chimes: To unlock the path to the inner sanctum, you must activate a series of bells in the correct order.
- Locate the Bronze Bell in the northwest corner. Strike it once.
- Find the Iron Bell near the central altar. Strike it twice.
- The Silver Bell is in the southeast alcove. Strike it three times.
- Loot Opportunity: Before proceeding through the newly opened door, check the small offering tables around the main hall. You can often find Spirit Essences and occasional Healing Elixirs.
The Inner Sanctum and Sacred Incense Burner
The inner sanctum is a smaller, more ornate room. Be prepared for a challenge here.
- Mini-Boss: The Stone Monk: As you enter, a large Stone Monk will animate and attack.
- Strategy: The Stone Monk is slow but hits hard. Its attacks are telegraphed, so focus on dodging and counter-attacking. Use your Heavenly Pillar ability to stun it briefly, creating openings for sustained damage.
- Weakness: It is particularly vulnerable to fire-based attacks. If you have any Flame Talismans, now is the time to use them.
- Reward: Defeating the Stone Monk yields a significant amount of Experience Fragments and a Monk's Blessing Charm, which temporarily boosts your defense.
- Locating the Sacred Incense Burner: After the fight, the Sacred Incense Burner will be prominently displayed on a pedestal at the back of the room. Interact with it to progress the main quest.
- Final Item: Before leaving, investigate the small chest to the right of the Incense Burner. It contains a Scroll of Ancient Wisdom, which unlocks a new combat technique or lore entry.
Once you have acquired the Sacred Incense Burner, you can safely exit the Ancient Guanyin Temple. Your next destination will likely be the Black Wind Cave.
