The first boss you encounter in Black Myth: Wukong is Erlang, the Sacred Divinity, during the Prologue. This fight serves as a crucial tutorial, indicated by your lack of a health bar. Erlang utilizes straightforward spear techniques, including sweeping and thrusting attacks, which often slow down, providing excellent opportunities to practice your dodging skills. Since there is no dedicated block button, mastering timed dodges is essential for survival in combat.
Boss Fight: Erlang, the Sacred Divinity
After the cutscene, you will immediately face off against your first boss fight. You will also notice that you have no health bar, which is a clear indication that this is just a tutorial. Take this time to get a grasp on how combat works and work around the controls. Erlang fights using straightforward spear techniques, with sweeping and thrusting attacks. He often slows down, giving you the chance to practice your dodging skills. Remember, this game lacks a dedicated block button, so that means you'll have to rely on timing your dodges, especially at the last second, to survive most combat encounters.
After defeating the two enemies, cross the bridge and continue along the main path to face another Wolf Soldier. Defeat this enemy and keep moving forward. You'll soon enter a more open area of this region. Although the game is largely linear, some sections allow for some exploration off the main route, which can be crucial for discovering unique items and optional boss fights. On the left side, you’ll find another Wolf Stalwart guarding a Purple Lingzhi mushroom at the base of a large tree.
