Optional Exploration & Collectibles

Discover hidden paths and valuable items scattered throughout the world of Black Myth: Wukong. This section highlights the importance of deviating from the main path to find optional areas, uncover unique loot, and engage in challenging optional boss fights that can reward you with powerful gear and resources.

While Black Myth: Wukong features a largely linear progression, certain areas offer opportunities for exploration off the beaten path. In the Forest of Wolves, after passing the first two Wolves near the Shrine, you can find Purple Lingzhi and Aged Ginseng. Continuing on leads to a small peak with broken pillars where a Wolf guards pots containing Will. Near this peak, a bridge is guarded by a Bandit Chief, who drops items upon defeat. The Wolf Archer on the subsequent bridge can be countered using the staff twirl ability to deflect arrows.

As you progress further, you might encounter a path that descends and splits. The left path leads to a stream that circles back, while the right path leads to a mini-boss. It's recommended to explore these side areas to gather resources like Aged Ginseng and Purple Lingzhi, which are crucial for crafting and upgrades. Be wary of enemies like the Ginsengling, an earth elemental that spreads poison roots, and always be prepared to reposition yourself when engaging them. These optional encounters often provide a greater quantity of crafting materials.
