Black Myth: Wukong features numerous hidden bosses and optional encounters that offer unique rewards, including powerful Transformation Spells. Exploring off the main path is essential for discovering these challenges and acquiring valuable items like Purple Lingzhi.
Hidden Bosses & Rewards
After defeating two enemies, crossing a bridge, and dispatching another Wolf Soldier, you will enter a more open area. While the game is largely linear, some sections allow for exploration off the main route, which can lead to unique items and optional boss fights. On the left side, a Wolf Stalwart guards a Purple Lingzhi mushroom at the base of a large tree.
One significant reward from an optional boss is the Transformation Spell: Red Tides, acquired by retrieving a fiery blade after defeating a specific boss. This spell grants the ability to transform into the defeated boss and use its powers in combat. Before leaving such areas, search for pots to break for free Will, Aged Ginseng, and green wisps.
NOTE: You should defeat certain optional bosses before unlocking secret areas. For instance, the Wandering Wight will disappear if you face the boss of the Ancient Guanyin Temple before challenging it, causing you to lose the chance to earn its rewards.
