Wolf Archer & Staff Twirl Ability

In the Forest of Wolves, you'll encounter the Wolf Archer, a ranged enemy that poses a threat with its volleys of arrows. This encounter is the perfect opportunity to learn and utilize the 'Staff Twirl' ability, a defensive maneuver crucial for dealing with projectile-based attacks.

To activate the Staff Twirl, hold down the L2 button. This will cause Wukong to rapidly spin his staff, creating a defensive barrier that can deflect incoming arrows. The Wolf Archer typically initiates combat with a quick barrage, so it's essential to keep the L2 button held down until the barrage ends. However, this defensive stance consumes stamina, so you cannot maintain it indefinitely. Manage your stamina carefully to ensure you have enough to dodge or attack after deflecting.

Once the Wolf Archer ceases its arrow attack, quickly dash across the bridge to close the distance. Wukong's light combo attacks are effective against these less armored enemies. Observe their movements to time your dodges effectively, especially as they begin their attack animations. Your light combo consists of four consecutive strikes, ending with a powerful overhead slam if uninterrupted.

Defeating the Wolf Archer and other early enemies like the Wolf Scout and Wolf Swornsword will earn you experience and 'Will,' the game's currency. This currency can be used to purchase items from merchants, such as the Shen Monkey you'll encounter later, who sells various consumables and crafting materials.
