Chapter 3: The Mystery Lake Search
In Chapter 3, continue your investigation into Rüdiger's experiments by following clues from the Security Chief's Logs. Head to the Zone of Contamination with your Handheld Shortwave Radio to search the Langston mine for remnants of Rüdiger and his project.
Your main objective is to search the Langston mine for any signs of Rüdiger and his project. The Security Chief's Logs mention a machine located in the heart of a nearby mining complex. To begin, travel to the Zone of Contamination, ensuring you have the Handheld Shortwave Radio with you. The repaired Transmitter in Forsaken Airfield broadcasts its radio coverage into the Zone, so no additional transmitter search is needed.
Your mission within the Zone of Contamination involves several key steps:
- Search the Concentrator and Headframe facility for clues or tools that will help you locate Rüdiger's experiment.
- [Optional] Locate a Respirator, which may be beneficial for exploring certain areas.
- Search the deepest corners of the Langston Mine. This involves:
- Finding a way to the tracks that connect the Concentrator to the ridge above.
- Searching the rest of the mine for a way to access the Locked Zone.
The Forgotten Exploration area, located between Turbulent Pasture and Harrowed Residence within the Zone of Contamination, is a warm interior that can serve as a resting spot if you have a Bedroll. This mine contains resources such as Coal, Scrap Metal, Lockers, and Reclaimed Wood. An Emergency Kit can also be found in the easternmost section of the mine, in a large room with a single column, after climbing the scaffolding.
