Chapter 2: Escape from Blackrock involves navigating challenging terrain and utilizing strategic locations for survival. Key areas like Boss's Settlement and Forgotten Exploration in the Zone of Contamination offer opportunities for resource gathering and temporary refuge. Understanding their layout and available resources is vital for a successful escape.

Boss's Settlement, or Boss's Encampment, is a group of ruined buildings situated high in the mountains, close to Idle Camp in the Zone of Contamination. The settlement includes 3 ruined buildings and an intact shed. Although direct shelter is limited, the Scaffolder's Hideout, a Warm Cave, is a short walk across a wooden bridge. Players can hunt Ptarmigans and Rabbits in the vicinity and find loot in containers within the ruined buildings. A vista point is located at the cliff side, offering views of the railroad.

Forgotten Exploration is a mine found in the Zone of Contamination, between Turbulent Pasture and Harrowed Residence. Its interior is notably warm, providing a good spot to rest outdoors with a Bedroll. Resources such as Coal, Scrap Metal, Lockers, and Reclaimed Wood are available inside. An Emergency Kit can be found in the easternmost part of the mine, in a large room with a single column, after climbing the scaffolding.
