Marauder Patrols & Camps
Marauders are organized groups of hostile survivors who roam the wilderness, preying on weaker individuals and settlements. They are often well-armed and operate in coordinated patrols, making them a significant threat. You'll frequently encounter their patrols on roads and in more populated areas. It's advisable to avoid direct confrontation if possible, as they often outnumber and outgun lone survivors. If you spot a marauder patrol, use cover and concealment to observe their movements and try to slip by unnoticed. If you are detected, your best option is often to retreat to a defensible location or use the environment to your advantage.
Marauder camps are fortified locations where these groups gather. These camps are often rich in resources, including ammunition, food, and valuable crafting components, making them tempting targets for desperate survivors. However, raiding a marauder camp is extremely dangerous. They are heavily guarded, and attempting a direct assault is usually suicidal. If you decide to raid a camp, stealth and careful planning are essential. Scout the camp thoroughly, identify patrol routes, and look for opportunities to pick off guards one by one. Alternatively, you might be able to cause a distraction, such as setting a fire, to draw them out or create an opening. Be prepared for a fierce firefight if your stealth fails.
