Bloodshade Harbor: Hae Mujin

Hae Mujin stands as the formidable final boss of Bloodshade Harbor, a 4-player heroic dungeon that demands meticulous coordination and precise execution. This guide will equip you with the knowledge to conquer this challenging encounter, detailing his multi-phase mechanics, crucial strategies, and recommended preparations.

Recommended Preparations

  • Recommended Level: Level 50 (Hongmoon Level 5+)
  • Recommended Gear Score: 550+ AP (Attack Power)
  • Party Composition:
    • Tank: 1 (Blade Dancer, Destroyer, Kung Fu Master, or Warden are ideal due to their aggro generation and defensive capabilities).
    • Damage Dealers (DPS): 2-3 (Any class, but ranged DPS can offer more flexibility during certain mechanics).
    • Support/Utility: 1 (Summoner for heals/resets, Soul Fighter for buffs/heals, or a class with strong CC for interrupts).
    • Crucial Utility: Ensure your party has a good mix of Stun, Daze, and Knockdown crowd control (CC) abilities for crucial interrupts.
  • Consumables: Bring plenty of healing potions, elixirs for stat boosts, and potentially resurrection charms.

Hae Mujin: Phase Breakdown & Strategy

Hae Mujin is a multi-phase boss, transforming and gaining new, more dangerous abilities as his health decreases. Understanding each phase is key to victory.

Phase 1: Human Form (100% - 70% HP)

In his initial human form, Hae Mujin utilizes a combination of powerful melee attacks and predictable AoE abilities. Focus on consistent damage while learning his attack patterns.

  • Basic Attack Combo: A series of quick, powerful strikes. Tanks should block/parry these.
  • Whirlwind: Hae Mujin spins, pulling all players towards him. This deals moderate damage and can interrupt casts.
    • Strategy: As soon as you see the animation, use an iframe (invincibility frame) ability or a dash/escape skill to move away from the boss. Ranged DPS should maintain distance.
  • Stomp: Hae Mujin raises a leg and stomps the ground, dealing massive damage in a large AoE around him, often followed by a knockback.
    • Strategy: This is a critical ability to interrupt. Designate 2-3 players to use Stun or Daze CC abilities when he begins the Stomp animation. Missing this interrupt can lead to significant party damage or even a wipe.
  • Forward Charge: He will occasionally charge forward in a straight line, knocking down anyone in his path.
    • Strategy: Sidestep or iframe through the charge.

Phase 2: Transformed Form (70% - 0% HP)

Upon reaching approximately 70% HP, Hae Mujin transforms into a larger, more menacing form, gaining new abilities and significantly increasing the difficulty. This phase introduces the critical Water Spirit mechanic.

New Abilities & Mechanics:
  • Enhanced Basic Attacks: His melee attacks become more damaging and may have wider hitboxes.
  • Ground Slam: Similar to Stomp, but often covers a larger area and can apply a debuff. Still interruptible with CC.
  • Water Prison (AoE): Hae Mujin will periodically channel a large, expanding AoE attack that traps players in a "Water Prison," dealing continuous damage and restricting movement.
    • Strategy: This is another crucial interrupt. Designate 2-3 players to use Knockdown CC abilities when he begins channeling Water Prison. Successfully interrupting this prevents massive party damage and potential wipes.
  • Water Spirits Mechanic: This is the most critical and complex mechanic of Phase 2.
    • Trigger: Approximately every 60-90 seconds (or at specific HP thresholds), Hae Mujin will summon four Water Spirits that spawn at the cardinal directions (North, East, South, West) of the arena.
    • Spirit Movement: These spirits slowly move towards Hae Mujin. If a spirit reaches him, he gains a powerful damage buff and heals a significant amount of HP, likely leading to a wipe.
    • Absorption: One designated player must absorb each Water Spirit. To absorb a spirit, a player simply needs to stand in its path and intercept it. When absorbed, You gains a stacking debuff called "Waterlogged" (or similar), which reduces their movement speed and eventually applies a powerful DoT (Damage over Time).
    • Designated Roles:
      • Tank: Stays on Hae Mujin, maintaining aggro.
      • Spirit Absorbers (3 DPS/Support): Three players must be designated to absorb the Water Spirits. It's crucial to assign specific directions (e.g., Player A takes North, Player B takes East, Player C takes South). The fourth spirit will be absorbed by You closest to it after the initial three are taken.
      • Timing: move to their assigned spirit locations as soon as Hae Mujin begins the summoning animation. Absorb the spirits as they approach, but try not to absorb them too early, as the debuff duration is fixed.
    • Debuff Management: The "Waterlogged" debuff stacks. After absorbing one spirit, return to DPSing. If a player absorbs a second spirit, the debuff becomes much more potent, making it difficult to survive. Ideally, no single player should absorb more than one spirit per summoning wave.
    • Resetting Debuffs: After a wave of spirits, Hae Mujin will often perform an AoE attack that clears the "Waterlogged" debuff from all players. This allows the same players to absorb spirits in subsequent waves.
    • Common Pitfall: Failing to absorb all spirits, or allowing a single player to absorb too many, will result in a wipe. Communication is paramount here.

General Strategy Tips

  • Communication: Call out CC abilities, spirit assignments, and any incoming mechanics.
  • Positioning: Ranged DPS should spread out to avoid cleaves and facilitate spirit absorption. Melee DPS should stack behind the boss when possible.
  • CC Rotation: Establish a clear CC rotation for Stomp and Water Prison. Don't waste all your CC at once.
  • Aggro Management: The tank must maintain aggro at all times, especially during spirit phases to prevent Hae Mujin from turning on the absorbers.
  • Survival: Use iframes and defensive abilities liberally. Hae Mujin's attacks hit hard.
