Beginner Gear Progression
Welcome, aspiring martial artist! Navigating the initial gear landscape in Blade & Soul can seem daunting, but with this detailed guide, you'll be well-equipped to face the challenges ahead. This section focuses on your gear progression from character creation through the early endgame, ensuring you have the necessary tools to thrive.
I. Early Game (Levels 1-50) - Questing & Story Rewards
Your primary focus during the leveling process should be completing the main story quests. These quests are your most reliable source of initial gear and experience. Do not fret about optimizing every piece of equipment at this stage; simply equip whatever has the highest stats or is a direct upgrade.
- Weapon: Your first weapon will be provided through the tutorial. As you progress through the main story, you'll receive new weapons as quest rewards. These are typically sufficient for the content you're facing.
- Accessories (Rings, Earrings, Necklaces): Similar to weapons, the main story quests will consistently provide you with basic accessories. Always equip the highest-level accessory you receive.
- Soul Shield: Soul Shields are crucial for boosting your defensive and offensive stats.
- Act 1-3 Soul Shields: These will be given as rewards from main story quests. Collect and equip full sets for the set bonuses.
- Scorpion Soul Shield (Act 4): Upon reaching Act 4, you'll start acquiring pieces of the Scorpion Soul Shield. This is a significant upgrade and should be your first complete set to aim for. You'll get these from story quests and various dungeons in the Act 4 region.
II. Level 50 - Initial Endgame Gear
Congratulations on reaching level 50! This is where your gear progression truly begins. Your goal here is to acquire a foundational set of gear that will allow you to tackle the first tier of endgame dungeons.
A. Weapon Progression
Your first major weapon upgrade path involves the Awakened Siren and Awakened Pirate weapons.
- Awakened Siren Weapon:
- Acquisition: The base Siren weapon can be obtained from the Blackram Supply Chain dungeon. You'll then upgrade it using materials primarily found in Bloodshade Harbor and Nightshade Harbor.
- Strategy: Focus on farming these dungeons for the necessary upgrade materials (e.g., Siren Emblems, Pirate Emblems, various crafting materials). The upgrade path is linear and clearly outlined in your inventory's weapon upgrade tab.
- Awakened Pirate Weapon:
- Acquisition: This is the direct upgrade from the Awakened Siren Weapon. Materials for this upgrade are also primarily found in Bloodshade Harbor and Nightshade Harbor.
- Strategy: Continue farming the aforementioned dungeons. This weapon will carry you through the initial stages of endgame content.
B. Accessory Progression
At level 50, you'll want to start replacing your story accessories with more powerful options.
- Awakened Siren Accessories:
- Acquisition: These rings, earrings, and necklaces drop from Bloodshade Harbor and Nightshade Harbor.
- Strategy: Prioritize getting a full set of these. They provide significant stat boosts and set bonuses. Upgrade them as you acquire the necessary materials from the same dungeons.
C. Soul Shield Progression
The Scorpion Soul Shield from Act 4 is a good starting point, but you'll quickly want to upgrade.
- Bloodshade Harbor Soul Shield:
- Acquisition: Pieces of this Soul Shield drop from the Bloodshade Harbor dungeon.
- Strategy: Aim to collect a full 8-piece set. This will provide a substantial boost to your stats and survivability, preparing you for more challenging content.
- Nightshade Harbor Soul Shield:
- Acquisition: Pieces drop from the Nightshade Harbor dungeon.
- Strategy: This is a direct upgrade to the Bloodshade Harbor set. Once you're comfortable with Bloodshade, transition to farming Nightshade for these superior pieces.
III. Fusing & Optimizing Your Soul Shield
Once you have a full 8-piece set of a particular Soul Shield (e.g., Bloodshade or Nightshade), you can further enhance it through fusion.
- Soul Shield Fusing:
- Process: Visit a Soul Shield Merchant in any major city (e.g., Jadestone Village, Zaiwei). Select the "Fuse Soul Shield" option.
- Materials: You'll need a primary Soul Shield piece and a secondary "fodder" Soul Shield piece (usually green or blue rarity) with the desired stat. You'll also need Soulstone Crystals.
- Strategy: Fuse critical attack or piercing stats onto your Soul Shield pieces. For example, if you have a Bloodshade Soul Shield piece, you can fuse a green quality Soul Shield piece that has a high critical attack stat onto it to transfer that stat. This is a crucial step in maximizing your damage output.
By following these steps, you'll establish a strong gear foundation, allowing you to confidently progress through Blade & Soul's challenging and rewarding endgame content.
