Character Customization
Blade & Soul offers an unparalleled depth of character customization, allowing you to craft a hero that truly reflects your personal style and combat preferences. This detailed guide will walk you through every step, from initial character creation to advanced cosmetic alterations.
I. Initial Character Creation
Upon launching Blade & Soul for the first time or creating a new character, you'll be presented with the character creation screen. This is where your journey begins!
A. Race Selection
Your choice of race is foundational, as it dictates available classes and provides unique aesthetic options. Consider both the visual appeal and the class restrictions before making your final decision.
- Gon: Known for their imposing physique and strength. Can be Destroyers or Force Masters.
- Jin: The most human-like race, versatile and balanced. Can be Blade Masters, Kung Fu Masters, Assassins, or Soul Fighters.
- Lyn: Small, agile, and often mischievous. Can be Summoners, Blade Dancers, Warlocks, or Astrologians.
- Yun: Graceful and elegant, exclusively female. Can be Blade Masters, Force Masters, or Soul Fighters.
B. Class Selection
After choosing your race, you'll select your class. This is a crucial decision that determines your primary combat role and playstyle. Each class has unique skills, weapon types, and combat mechanics.
- Blade Master: Melee DPS, tanky with parries.
- Kung Fu Master: Melee DPS, high combo potential, counter-attacks.
- Destroyer: Melee DPS/Tank, large AoE attacks, crowd control.
- Force Master: Ranged DPS, elemental magic, good crowd control.
- Assassin: Melee DPS, stealth, high burst damage.
- Summoner: Ranged DPS/Support, relies on a pet companion.
- Blade Dancer: Melee DPS, high mobility, similar to Blade Master but with more spin attacks.
- Warlock: Ranged DPS, dark magic, summons thralls.
- Soul Fighter: Hybrid Melee/Ranged DPS, combines Kung Fu Master and Force Master elements.
- Gunslinger: Ranged DPS, dual pistols, high mobility.
- Archer: Ranged DPS, bow and arrow, precision attacks.
- Warden: Melee DPS/Tank, uses a greatsword, strong defensive capabilities.
- Zen Archer: Ranged DPS, spiritual bow, unique chi mechanics.
- Thief: Melee DPS, stealth and agility, similar to Assassin.
- Astrologian: Ranged DPS, uses celestial powers and a unique weapon.
C. Appearance Customization
This is where you truly make your character your own. The customization suite in Blade & Soul is incredibly robust. Take your time to explore all the options.
- Body Type: Adjust height, muscle mass, and various body proportions. Use the sliders to fine-tune your character's physique.
- Face: This section offers an extensive array of options:
- Presets: Start with a pre-designed face and modify from there.
- Facial Features: Adjust eye shape, nose size, mouth width, jawline, cheekbones, and more. Each feature often has multiple sliders for depth, angle, and position.
- Hair: Choose from a wide variety of hairstyles, including length, bangs, and texture.
- Hair Color: Utilize the color palette to select your desired hair color, often with options for highlights and gradients.
- Eye Color: Select from a spectrum of eye colors.
- Skin Tone: Adjust the complexion of your character.
- Makeup/Tattoos: Apply various makeup styles, facial markings, and tattoos. Experiment with opacity and color to achieve the desired effect.
- Voice: Select a voice set for your character. Listen to the different options to find one that fits your character's personality.
II. Post-Creation Customization (Wardrobe & Appearance Management)
Even after creating your character, Blade & Soul provides numerous ways to alter their appearance and acquire new cosmetic items.
A. The Wardrobe (F3)
The Wardrobe (accessible by pressing F3) is your central hub for managing all cosmetic items. Here you can equip outfits, adornments, and preview items you don't yet own.
- Outfits: These are full-body costumes that change your character's entire look. They are purely cosmetic and offer no statistical benefits.
- Adornments: These include headpieces, glasses, masks, back decorations, and weapon skins. They can be equipped independently of outfits.
- Weapon Skins: Change the appearance of your equipped weapon without altering its stats. These are often obtained from dungeons, events, or the Hongmoon Store.
B. Acquiring New Cosmetics
New outfits and adornments can be obtained through various in-game activities and purchases:
- Dungeon Drops: Many dungeons, particularly higher-level ones like Ebony Mines or Naryu Foundry, have a chance to drop unique cosmetic outfits or weapon skins.
- Event Rewards: Participate in seasonal events and daily challenges to earn event currencies that can be exchanged for exclusive cosmetics at event vendors located in major cities like Jadestone Village or Zaiwei.
- Hongmoon Store (F10): The in-game cash shop offers a vast selection of premium outfits, adornments, and character customization vouchers. Look for limited-time sales and bundles.
- PvP Rewards: Achieving certain ranks in Arena PvP or participating in faction warfare can unlock unique cosmetic rewards from PvP vendors in areas like Misty Woods.
- Crafting: Certain crafting professions, such as Tailoring, can craft specific outfits and adornments using collected materials.
- Achievement Rewards: Completing specific in-game achievements can sometimes grant cosmetic items. Check the Achievement window (Ctrl+J) for details.
C. Appearance Change Voucher
If you wish to drastically alter your character's appearance (beyond just outfits) after creation, you can purchase an Appearance Change Voucher from the Hongmoon Store (F10). This item allows you to re-enter the full character customization screen, similar to when you first created your character, letting you change race, gender, and all facial and body features.
By mastering these customization options, you can ensure your Blade & Soul journey is not only thrilling but also visually unique to your personal style!
