Choosing Your Starting Server

When you first launch Blade & Soul, you'll be presented with a server selection screen. This initial choice sets the stage for your entire gameplay experience. Here's what to consider:

Region: Blade & Soul typically has servers categorized by geographical region (e.g., North America, Europe, Asia). Always select a server within your closest geographical region to minimize latency (ping). High ping can significantly impact gameplay, especially in Blade & Soul's action-oriented, combo-heavy combat system, making precise dodges and skill rotations much more difficult. Aim for a ping below 100ms for optimal performance.
Server Population: The server list will usually display a population indicator (e.g., Low, Medium, High, Full). This indicator is dynamic and reflects current player activity.

High/Full: These servers offer a vibrant community, active Faction chat, and readily available groups for challenging dungeons like the Naryu Foundry, Dreadstire, or raids such as Skybreak Spire and Temple of Eluvium. However, they can also experience longer queue times during peak hours, more competition for open-world boss spawns (e.g., Blackwyrm in the Misty Woods or Iron Mane in the Zaiwei Ruins), and potentially higher prices on the Auction House due to increased demand for rare materials.
Medium: A good balance between activity and accessibility. You'll find groups for most content without excessive waiting, a healthy economy with competitive pricing, and a generally stable social environment. This is often recommended for new players seeking a balanced experience.
Low: While offering a more solitary experience and potentially less competition for open-world resources, low-population servers can make finding groups for end-game content (especially raids and harder dungeons) challenging. The Auction House might also have fewer listings or higher prices due to less supply and demand. This option is best for players who prefer a quieter experience or primarily play solo.

Friends & Guilds (Clans): If you're joining friends or a pre-existing guild (Clan), ensure you select the exact same server they are on. Blade & Soul does not support cross-server instanced content for all activities, and crucial open-world interactions, Faction PvP, and Clan activities are strictly server-specific. Confirm the server name with your group before character creation.
Faction Balance: Some servers might have a noticeable imbalance between the Cerulean Order and the Crimson Legion. This allows you to move an existing character to a different server within the same geographical region. This service is typically a premium feature, requiring a purchase from the Hongmoon Store.

Purchasing a Character Transfer Voucher

The first step in relocating your character is to acquire the necessary item:

Access the Hongmoon Store from the in-game menu (default key: F10 on PC, check your console's equivalent binding).
Navigate to the "Services," "Utility," or "Character Services" tab. The exact category name may vary slightly with updates.
Locate and purchase the Character Transfer Voucher. The cost is usually a set amount of NCoin (premium currency) or sometimes Hongmoon Coin (earned in-game). As of recent updates, expect the cost to be around 1200-1500 NCoin.
Once purchased, the voucher will be delivered to your character's inventory or the "Received Items" tab within the Hongmoon Store interface. Ensure you claim it.

Initiating the Transfer Process

The actual transfer process is usually performed through the official Blade & Soul website or a dedicated portal, not directly in-game. This ensures account security and proper handling of server-side data. Follow these general steps:

Log in to your NCSoft Account Management Page on the official Blade & Soul website (e.g., Blade & Soul official site).
Locate the "Character Transfer," "Services," or "Game Services" section within your account dashboard.
You will be presented with a list of your characters. Select the specific character you wish to transfer.
Choose the desired destination server from the available options. Only servers within your current geographical region will be listed. Locked servers (due to high population) will be greyed out or not appear.

Review all the displayed information carefully, including the source and destination server, and the character name. Once confirmed, the transfer process will begin. Important Considerations Before Transferring

To ensure a smooth transfer and avoid potential loss of items or progress, it is crucial to prepare your character thoroughly:

Cost: As mentioned, character transfers require a Character Transfer Voucher, which costs premium currency (NCoin). Be prepared for this expense.
Cooldown: There is typically a cooldown period between character transfers for the same character. This is usually 30 days, meaning once a character is transferred, it cannot be transferred again for a month. Check the official website's FAQ or service page for the most current restrictions.
Mailbox & Auction House: CRITICAL STEP: Ensure your character's in-game mailbox is completely empty (both received and sent mail). Also, make sure there are no active listings or pending bids on the Auction House. Any items, gold, or bids in these systems may be permanently lost during the transfer. Clan Membership: You will automatically be removed from your current Clan upon transfer. Rejoining a Clan on the new server will be necessary. Inform your current Clan members of your departure if you wish to maintain social ties.

Character Name Availability: If your character's name is already taken on the destination server, you will be prompted to choose a new name upon logging in for the first time after the transfer. Consider having a few alternative names ready to avoid delays in playing your character.
Cross-Region Transfers: Character transfers are strictly limited to servers within the same geographical region (e.g., NA to NA, EU to EU). You cannot transfer a character from a North American server to a European server, or vice-versa.
