Arena:
Tchernobog's arena is a massive, often multi-tiered, demonic chamber. It typically features a central platform where Tchernobog resides, surrounded by lower areas, lava pits, and sometimes elevated walkways. There will be numerous health, armor, and ammo pickups scattered around, often in secret areas or on the periphery of the arena. Stock up before engaging!
Tchernobog's Attacks & Phases:
- Energy Orbs: Tchernobog will launch slow-moving, but powerful, energy orbs that track Caleb. These can be dodged by constant movement.
- Lightning Strikes: Tchernobog can summon lightning bolts from the sky, targeting Caleb's position. Keep moving to avoid these.
- Fire Pillars: Tchernobog can summon pillars of fire from the ground, dealing continuous damage if Caleb is caught in them.
- Summon Minions: Tchernobog will frequently summon waves of powerful enemies, including Fanatics, Cultist Priests, Death Shrouds, and Stone Gargoyles, to overwhelm Caleb. This is a crucial part of the fight.
- Teleportation: Tchernobog can teleport around the arena, making him harder to pin down.
- Invulnerability Phase (Core): Tchernobog is often invulnerable to direct attacks initially. You'll need to destroy his 'heart' or 'core' which is usually a glowing orb or crystal, often located in the center of the arena or on his body. This core is typically protected by a shield or requires a specific action to expose.
- Vulnerable Phase: Once his core is exposed or his shield is down, Tchernobog becomes vulnerable to direct attacks. This is your window to unleash maximum damage.
Recommended Weapons & Strategy:
- Tesla Cannon: Absolutely essential. Its chain lightning is devastating against summoned minions and can deal continuous damage to Tchernobog when he's vulnerable.
- Napalm Launcher: Excellent for clearing out large groups of summoned enemies and dealing massive area damage to Tchernobog.
- Life Leech: Crucial for healing during the intense fight and dealing sustained damage to Tchernobog.
- Dynamite (Secondary Fire): Powerful for direct hits on Tchernobog's core or when he's vulnerable.
- Voodoo Doll (Primary Fire): Can deal immense damage to Tchernobog when he's vulnerable, but ammo is scarce.
- Sawed-Off Shotgun (Secondary Fire): For close-range bursts against powerful summoned enemies.
Tactics:
- Prioritize Minions: The summoned enemies are a constant threat and can quickly overwhelm you. Use the Tesla Cannon and Napalm Launcher to clear them out as quickly as possible.
- Stay Mobile: Constantly strafe, run, and jump to avoid Tchernobog's energy orbs, lightning strikes, and fire pillars. Never stand still.
- Expose the Core: Your primary objective in the initial phase is to figure out how to expose Tchernobog's vulnerable core. This might involve shooting specific targets, activating switches, or simply waiting for an opening.
- Unleash Damage: Once Tchernobog's core is exposed or he's vulnerable, unleash everything you have. Use your most powerful weapons (Tesla, Napalm, Life Leech, Voodoo Doll, Dynamite) without hesitation.
- Health & Armor Management: The arena usually has health and armor pickups. Grab them strategically when you're low, but don't risk too much. The Life Leech's healing ability is vital.
- Power-ups: Use Invulnerability to tank damage and deal uninterrupted damage to Tchernobog. Guns Akimbo can double your damage output. Reflective Shot can be incredibly effective against his energy orbs.
- Learn Patterns: Tchernobog's attacks are predictable. Learn his patterns to effectively dodge and find openings.
