Enemy Types & Strategies

Common Enemies:

  1. Zombies: The most basic enemy. Slow-moving, melee-focused. Easily dispatched with a few Sawed-Off Shotgun blasts or a Quick Kick. Their heads can be shot off for an instant kill. They can reanimate if not fully destroyed (e.g., gibbed or decapitated).
  2. Axe Zombies: Tougher, faster Zombies wielding axes. They deal more damage and are more resilient. Prioritize them with the Sawed-Off Shotgun's secondary fire or the Tommy Gun.
  3. Cultists: Humanoid enemies, the most common ranged threat. They wield Tommy Guns and are quite accurate. Use cover, strafe, and return fire with your own Tommy Gun or Sawed-Off Shotgun. Their heads can be shot off for an instant kill.
  4. Cultist Priests: More dangerous Cultists. They wear robes, summon Phantasms, and throw fireballs. Prioritize them immediately with powerful weapons like the Tommy Gun, Sawed-Off Shotgun's secondary fire, or the Voodoo Doll.
  5. Fanatics: Heavily armored Cultists, very resilient and wield powerful weapons (often the Tesla Cannon or Napalm Launcher). They take reduced damage from most attacks. Use Dynamite, the Tesla Cannon, or the Sawed-Off Shotgun's secondary fire at close range. Aim for the head if possible.
  6. Phantasms: Ghostly, flying enemies that are translucent and hard to hit. They float slowly and shoot projectiles. Use the Tommy Gun for sustained fire or the Flare Gun's primary fire. The Voodoo Doll's primary fire can also track them.
  7. Gargoyles: Flying, demonic creatures that shoot fireballs. They are agile and can be difficult to hit. Use the Tommy Gun or Flare Gun's primary fire. The Tesla Cannon is also effective.
  8. Stone Gargoyles: Stationary, tougher versions of Gargoyles, often found guarding areas. They have more health and shoot more powerful fireballs. Use Dynamite, the Tesla Cannon, or sustained Tommy Gun fire.
  9. Hands: Disembodied, crawling hands. Small, fast, and deal melee damage. Difficult to hit with slow weapons. Use the Quick Kick, Sawed-Off Shotgun, or Flare Gun.
  10. Rats: Very small, fast, and deal minimal damage. Easily dispatched with a Quick Kick or a single Flare Gun shot.
  11. Spiders: Small, fast, crawling enemies that spit venom, obscuring your vision. Similar to Hands, use Quick Kick, Sawed-Off Shotgun, or Flare Gun.
  12. Gill Beasts: Aquatic enemies found in deep water. They are fast in water and deal melee damage. Use the Sawed-Off Shotgun or Tommy Gun if you can get a clear shot. The Flare Gun's primary fire can also be effective underwater.
  13. Cheogh's Minions: Small, fast, humanoid creatures that swarm you in groups. They deal melee damage. Use the Sawed-Off Shotgun's secondary fire, Dynamite, or the Napalm Launcher for crowd control.

General Combat Strategies:

  • Prioritize Threats: Eliminate Cultist Priests and Fanatics first, then Gargoyles/Death Shrouds, then regular Cultists, and finally melee enemies.
  • use Secondary Fire: Many weapons have powerful secondary fire modes that are crucial for specific enemy types or situations.
  • Movement is Life: Constantly strafe and move to avoid projectiles. Don't stand still.
  • Use Cover: Duck behind pillars, crates, or walls to avoid incoming fire.
  • Environmental Hazards: Lure enemies into traps, exploding barrels, or crushing machinery.
  • Headshots: For Zombies and Cultists, headshots are instant kills and conserve ammo.
  • Crowd Control: Dynamite, Napalm Launcher, and the Tesla Cannon are excellent for clearing groups of enemies.

Mastering these strategies and understanding each enemy's behavior will significantly improve your chances of survival in Blood.
