Boss Strategies: Main Game

The bosses of Bloodborne are formidable tests of skill, patience, and adaptability. Each encounter demands a unique approach, from learning attack patterns to exploiting enemy weaknesses. This section provides strategies for overcoming the main game's most challenging adversaries, ensuring your continued progress through the nightmarish city of Yharnam.

The journey through Yharnam is punctuated by brutal boss encounters that serve as gatekeepers to new areas and story progression. From the hulking Cleric Beast to the elusive Rom, the Vacuous Spider, each boss requires a distinct strategy. Understanding their attack tells, movement patterns, and elemental weaknesses is paramount to victory. Many bosses can be staggered or parried, opening them up for critical Visceral Attacks.

  1. Cleric Beast: A large, aggressive foe. Focus on dodging its sweeping attacks and striking its back. Its fire attacks can be devastating, so maintain distance when it charges them.
  2. Father Gascoe: This early-game boss is a master of aggression. Learn to parry his rapid attacks with your firearm to create openings for Visceral Attacks. His second phase introduces more erratic movements and a powerful axe.
  3. Blood-starved Beast: This beast inflicts rapid poison. Use Fire damage, as it is particularly weak to it. Stay close and circle around it to avoid its lunging attacks and poison buildup.
  4. Vicar Amelia: Amelia's healing ability can be a major setback. Interrupt her healing by attacking aggressively. Her charged attacks are telegraphed, allowing for dodges. Consider using fire or bolt paper for increased damage.
  5. Shadow of Yharnam: This trio of enemies can overwhelm you. Focus on one at a time, prioritizing the one casting spells. Their fire attacks are dangerous, so quickstepping is essential.
  6. Rom, The Vacuous Spider: Rom is a deceptively passive boss until her adds swarm. Deal with the smaller spiders first, then focus on Rom. Her arcane attacks can be deadly; use the environment for cover.
  7. The One Reborn: This boss is a large mass of bodies. Target the hanging sacks on its body to deal significant damage. Avoid its area-of-effect attacks and the adds it summons.
  8. Micolash, Host of the Nightmare: A more puzzle-like boss. Micolash teleports frequently and uses arcane spells. The key is to chase him down and interrupt his powerful Augur of Ebrietas attack.
  9. Mergo's Wet Nurse: This boss wields multiple blades. Learn the timing of its rapid combos and dodge through them. Its area-of-effect attacks can be avoided by staying close to its sides.
  10. Gehrman, The First Hunter: The final boss of the base game. Gehrman is incredibly fast and uses a scythe and a firearm. Master parrying his scythe attacks and dodging his gunshots. His final phase is a desperate flurry of attacks.

Remember that practice and observation are your greatest allies. Don't be discouraged by failure; each death is a lesson learned on your path to becoming a master hunter.
