Achieving All Endings

Bloodborne offers three distinct endings, each influenced by your choices and the items you consume throughout your journey. Unlocking all of them requires careful attention to specific narrative triggers and the collection of a vital consumable. Understanding the conditions for each ending is key to experiencing the full scope of the game's conclusion and its thematic resolutions.

The primary factor determining your ending is the number of 'One Third of Umbilical Cord' items you consume before confronting the final boss sequence. These rare items are obtained through specific NPC questlines and by exploring certain late-game areas. Consuming fewer than three cords will lead to one of two endings, while consuming three or more unlocks the path to the game's true final confrontation.

Here's a breakdown of how to achieve each ending:

  1. Ending 1 (Refusal): Consume no more than two 'One Third of Umbilical Cord' items. After defeating Gehrman, choose to refuse his offer of release.
  2. Ending 2 (The Hunt): Consume no more than two 'One Third of Umbilical Cord' items. After defeating Gehrman, choose to accept his offer of release.
  3. Ending 3 (Childhood's Beginning): Consume three or more 'One Third of Umbilical Cord' items. After defeating Gehrman, you will face an additional final boss.

Key items and quests:

  • One Third of Umbilical Cord: Found in Arianna's questline, Iosefka's questline (if handled correctly), and within the Nightmare of Mensis.
  • Gehrman: The final boss of the main game, encountered in the Hunter's Dream.
  • Moon Presence: The true final boss, encountered only if you meet the conditions for Ending 3.

To ensure you can achieve all endings, it's advisable to complete all NPC quests and explore thoroughly before triggering the final boss sequence, as progression locks you out of further exploration.
