Accessing Byrgenwerth

Accessing Byrgenwerth can be done in two ways: either by having the Tonsil Stone and being picked up by a Lesser Amygdala near the Grand Cathedral, or immediately after defeating Rom, the Vacuous Spider. This area is optional but important for certain questlines and items, including a One Third of Umbilical Cord from Iosefka.

Byrgenwerth is an optional area that can be accessed via two methods:

  1. Obtain the Tonsil Stone and proceed to the dead end to the right of the Grand Cathedral (when facing the front from the outside). An invisible Lesser Amygdala will pick you up.
  2. You will gain immediate access to Byrgenwerth upon defeating Rom, the Vacuous Spider.

Regarding Iosefka:

  • If you intend to use her as a source for a One Third of Umbilical Cord, do not kill her before defeating Rom, The Vacuous Spider.
  • Return to her after defeating Rom to obtain the One Third of Umbilical Cord.
  • Killing her earlier would yield a rune, but sacrificing her for the cord is often preferred as other cord sources do not require giving up an item.
