The Abandoned Old Workshop is a secret, optional area that serves as a haunting mirror image of the Hunter's Dream. It offers valuable lore insights and crucial items for your journey. Accessing this area requires careful navigation and a keen eye.

Accessing the Workshop

To reach the Abandoned Old Workshop, you must first defeat the Blood-starved Beast in Old Yharnam. Once this boss is vanquished, return to the Cathedral Ward lamp.

  1. From the Cathedral Ward lamp, exit the chapel through the main doors and turn left.
  2. Proceed past the two Axe Giants and head towards the large circular plaza with the two Church Giants.
  3. Look for a door on the right side of the plaza, opposite the Grand Cathedral entrance. This door will now be open.
  4. Enter the building and take the elevator upwards.
  5. At the top, you'll find a bridge leading to the Healing Church Workshop. Cross this bridge.
  6. Inside the Healing Church Workshop, proceed to the very top floor.
  7. Look for a large hole in the floor on the topmost level. Carefully drop down through this hole.
  8. You will land on a series of wooden beams. Navigate these beams downwards, looking for ledges to drop onto.
  9. Eventually, you'll reach a platform with a door. This door leads directly into the Abandoned Old Workshop.

Workshop Exploration & Item Locations

Upon entering, you'll immediately notice the striking resemblance to the Hunter's Dream, albeit in a state of disrepair. There are no enemies in this area, allowing for peaceful exploration.

  • Main Workshop Area:
    • Doll Set: On the workbench where the Doll would normally stand in the Hunter's Dream, you will find the complete Doll Set (Doll Hat, Doll Clothes, Doll Gloves, Doll Skirt). This is a purely cosmetic set.
    • Old Hunter Bone: Located on the altar where the Plain Doll typically rests, you'll discover the Old Hunter Bone. This Hunter Tool allows for quick, short-distance dashes.
    • Small Hair Ornament: Near the gravestone where you would normally level up, you'll find the Small Hair Ornament. This key item can be given to the Plain Doll in the Hunter's Dream for a unique dialogue and a special reward.
  • Garden Area:
    • One Third of Umbilical Cord: Head outside to the garden area, mirroring the garden in the Hunter's Dream. On the gravestone at the back of the garden, you will find one of the crucial One Third of Umbilical Cord items. Collecting all three (or four, if you count the optional one) is essential for unlocking the true ending of the game.
