Byrgenwerth is a pivotal location in Bloodborne's lore, revealing more about the Great Ones and the true nature of the hunt. It is accessed through the Forbidden Woods after defeating Vicar Amelia and obtaining the password to the gate.
Boss Guide: Rom, the Vacuous Spider
Rom serves as the final barrier before the blood moon rises. While she is passive until attacked, the fight is a test of patience and spatial awareness.
Weaknesses: Rom is highly resistant to Physical and Arcane damage but is significantly weak to Bolt and Fire. Her head is armored; always aim for her soft, bulging abdomen for maximum damage.
Phase 1: Rom begins alone. Once attacked, she summons a wave of small spiders. In this phase, it is recommended to clear the small spiders first by attacking their sides or rears to safely damage Rom without distractions. Rom has no active attacks here.
Phase 2: After teleporting, Rom becomes aggressive. She will launch Arcane meteors from the sky if you are at a distance (sprint in a straight line to avoid) or summon Arcane bursts from the ground if you are close. Continue to ignore or carefully bypass the small spiders to landing quick hits on her flank.
Phase 3: Rom adds a frantic thrashing physical attack and a close-range AoE explosion. The strategy remains the same: hit and run. Use Bolt Paper to accelerate the fight and stay mobile to avoid being surrounded.
