Beginner's Guide
Welcome, Sensei, to the vibrant world of Blue Archive! Whether you're a seasoned gacha game veteran or a fresh face to tactical RPGs, this guide will help you navigate the initial challenges and set you on the path to success. We'll cover essential early-game strategies, resource management, and character development to ensure your students are always ready for action.
Initial Steps & Early Game Progression
Your journey begins with the tutorial, which introduces core combat mechanics and character roles. Pay close attention, as understanding these fundamentals is crucial for later stages.
- Complete the Main Story: Prioritize progressing through the main story chapters. Each chapter unlocks new game modes, features, and provides valuable resources like Pyroxene (the premium currency) and EXP materials. Aim to clear chapters as far as your current student power allows.
- Focus on Your Starter Students: The students you acquire early on, such as Serina (Healer) and Junko (Striker), are surprisingly capable. Invest in their skills and equipment.
- Understand Combat Roles:
- Strikers: Your frontline damage dealers and tanks.
- Specials: Support units providing healing, buffs, or additional damage from the backline.
- use Auto-Battle (Wisely): While auto-battle is convenient, for challenging stages, manual control of EX Skills can turn the tide. Learn when to intervene.
Student Development & Resource Management
Developing your students effectively is key to overcoming tougher content. Don't spread your resources too thin initially.
Leveling Up Students
Student levels are capped by your Sensei level. Always keep your main squad's levels as high as possible.
- Lesson (EXP Materials): Use Lesson Reports (Basic, Advanced, Superior) to level up your students. These are primarily obtained from the "Lessons" activity in the Schedule tab and various missions.
- Prioritize Core Team: Focus on leveling 4-6 Strikers and 2-3 Specials for your main combat teams.
Skill Enhancement
Skills are crucial. Enhancing them significantly boosts your students' combat effectiveness.
- Skill Points: These are a limited resource obtained from the "Bounty" missions. Use them wisely.
- Skill Materials: Each skill requires specific materials (e.g., Tactical Training Blu-ray, Technical Note, Omni-Purpose Activity Report) which are farmed from "Bounty" and "Commissions."
- Early Skill Focus: For your main damage dealers, prioritize their EX Skill and Sub Skill. For healers, their EX Skill and Basic Skill are often most impactful.
- Don't Over-Invest Early: As advised by veterans, avoid spending too many Skill Points on every student until you have a firm grasp of the skill system and which students you'll consistently use.
Equipment & Gear
Equipment provides significant stat boosts. Each student can equip three pieces of gear.
- Gear Types: Different gear types (e.g., Hat, Hairpin, Watch, Bag) provide various stat bonuses. Match gear to your student's role (e.g., ATK gear for damage dealers, HP/DEF gear for tanks).
- Obtaining Gear: Gear is primarily dropped from "Hard" story stages and "Commissions."
- Enhancing Gear: Use Enhancement Stones (obtained from various missions and events) to level up your gear. This is a cost-effective way to boost power early on.
- Tier Upgrades: As you progress, you'll unlock higher tiers of gear. Always aim to equip the highest tier available.
Key Daily Activities & Resource Farming
Consistency is rewarded in Blue Archive. Make these activities part of your daily routine:
- Daily Missions: Complete all daily missions for a steady supply of Pyroxene, AP (Action Points), and other essential resources.
- Bounty: Farm for Skill Materials and Skill Points. Prioritize the highest difficulty you can clear consistently.
- Commissions: Obtain various gear materials and Enhancement Stones. Again, clear the highest difficulty.
- Lessons: Gather EXP materials and relationship items. This is a great way to boost your students' levels.
- Hard Story Stages: Farm these stages for specific student Shards (to unlock or enhance students) and higher-tier gear. Prioritize students you want to recruit or upgrade.
- Cafe: Collect AP and Credits. Upgrade your Cafe facilities to increase its AP and Credit production rate.
- Tactical Challenge (PvP): Participate daily for Pyroxene rewards based on your ranking. Even if you don't win every match, the participation rewards are valuable.
Gacha & Student Acquisition
The "Recruit" section is where you'll acquire new students. Be strategic with your Pyroxene.
- Save Pyroxene: While tempting to pull immediately, it's generally recommended to save Pyroxene for "Sparking" (guaranteed acquisition after a certain number of pulls) on powerful limited or meta-defining students.
- Understand Banners: There are rate-up banners for specific students. Research which students are strong and fit your team composition before pulling.
- Free Pulls: Take advantage of any free daily or event-related pulls.
By following these initial steps and consistently engaging with the game's various systems, you'll quickly build a formidable team of students ready to tackle any challenge Kivotos throws your way. Good luck, Sensei!
