The path to the Data Core is usually blocked by debris or locked doors requiring a specific keycard or a powerful cutting tool like the Plasma Cutter (requires rare materials like Uranium and Titanium). Once inside, you'll need to solve a puzzle to activate the core and download critical information, revealing major plot points.
