Chewing gum, for instance, is your first tool for patching up leaks, as seen in Chapter 1. As you progress, you'll need to actively seek out specific resources to upgrade your gear and build new structures. Rolls of Fabric and Aluminum are vital for crafting components of your Enhanced Spacesuit, allowing you to venture further and withstand harsher environments.
Key resources like Iron, Titanium, and various electronic components will become increasingly important. These are often found within the scattered wreckage of the ill-fated spaceship. Look inside containers, lockers, and even within the debris itself. Some resources might require specific tools to extract. For example, you might need a Repair Tool to salvage components from damaged machinery.
As you advance into Chapters 2 and 3, the need for more specialized resources will arise. Finding an engineer specimen, for instance, might involve exploring specific modules of the ship. Similarly, the objective to "Open a couple of coffins" suggests that coffins themselves, or their contents, might yield valuable materials or clues. Keep an eye out for resource nodes that can be mined or harvested, such as asteroid fragments containing valuable ores.
Don't underestimate the importance of crafting stations. Building and upgrading your Crafting Station will unlock the ability to process raw materials into more refined components, such as Lead Paint for radiation protection or advanced alloys for better equipment. Always be on the lookout for blueprints or schematics that reveal new crafting recipes. A good strategy is to establish a small, centralized base near a cluster of valuable resources, allowing for efficient farming and crafting.
