The "Crit Potato" - A Dagger-Wielding DPS Machine

Submitted by: CritMasterFlex

This build focuses on maximizing critical hit chance and damage with fast-attacking weapons, turning your Brotato into a whirlwind of pain. It's perfect for players who love seeing big numbers and clearing waves with relentless aggression. The core concept revolves around stacking critical stats and attack speed to proc damage bonuses consistently.

Core Strategy

The "Crit Potato" thrives on overwhelming enemies with a barrage of critical hits. Your primary goal is to acquire multiple Daggers, upgrade their attack speed and critical chance, and then stack items that further boost these stats. Survivability comes from quickly eliminating threats and potentially some Dodge or Lifesteal to mitigate damage.

Essential Weapons & Items

  • Weapons: Daggers (6x)
    • Why Daggers? Daggers have naturally high attack speed and a good base critical chance. Their low individual damage is compensated by the sheer volume of attacks and critical hits. Aim for 6 Daggers as quickly as possible.
    • Upgrades: Prioritize Attack Speed > Critical Chance > Damage. Early game, a few points in Damage can help, but long-term, attack speed and crit are king.
  • Offensive Items:
    • Shredder: A must-have. Increases attack speed and critical chance. Synergizes perfectly with Daggers.
    • Glasses: Flat critical chance bonus. Essential for reaching high crit rates.
    • Scope: Further increases critical chance.
    • Bandana: Increases critical damage. Once your crit chance is high, this item provides massive damage scaling.
    • Spiky Shield: While primarily defensive, its flat damage bonus is useful, and the thorns damage can help clear weak enemies.
    • Potato (Weapon): If you find one, it offers a significant flat damage bonus, which scales well with high attack speed.
    • Power Generator: Increases damage based on your attack speed. Excellent synergy.
    • Baby with a Beard: Increases damage for each unique weapon type. While we're mostly using Daggers, if you pick up a single utility weapon (like a Medical Gun for healing), this can provide a small boost.
  • Defensive/Utility Items:
    • Tentacle: Provides Lifesteal, crucial for sustaining through waves, especially when dealing high damage.
    • Vampiric: Further Lifesteal. More is always better for this build.
    • Padding: Flat armor. Essential for mitigating damage.
    • Toughness: Percentage armor. Good once you have some flat armor.
    • Cyberball: Provides Dodge, another layer of defense.
    • Adrenaline: Movement speed and damage when low on health. Can be a clutch item.
    • Medkit: Flat HP regeneration. Always a solid pickup.
    • Tree: Max HP and HP regeneration.

Walkthrough Steps & Progression

  1. Early Game (Waves 1-5): The Foundation
    • Weapons: Focus on acquiring as many Daggers as possible. Aim for 3-4 Daggers by wave 3. Prioritize upgrading them for Attack Speed.
    • Shop Priority: Look for Shredder, Glasses, and any additional Daggers. If you see a Tentacle or Padding, consider picking them up for early survivability.
    • Stats: Prioritize Attack Speed and Critical Chance. A little bit of Damage can help clear early waves.
    • Strategy: Keep moving. Daggers have short range, so you'll be in the thick of it. Use your high attack speed to clear weaker enemies quickly.
  2. Mid Game (Waves 6-12): Scaling Up
    • Weapons: Aim to have 6 Daggers by wave 8-10. Continue upgrading Attack Speed and Critical Chance on all of them.
    • Shop Priority: Now is the time to stack more critical chance and damage items: Scope, Bandana, Power Generator. Continue looking for Tentacle and Vampiric for Lifesteal. Don't neglect defensive items like Padding, Toughness, and Cyberball.
    • Stats: Push Critical Chance towards 50-60% or higher. Keep increasing Attack Speed. Start investing in Critical Damage once your crit chance is reliable.
    • Strategy: You should be clearing waves very efficiently. Focus on kiting larger enemies and elites, letting your high attack speed and Lifesteal keep you healthy. Be mindful of projectile-heavy enemies.
  3. Late Game (Waves 13-20+): The Crit Storm
    • Weapons: All 6 Daggers should be highly upgraded, ideally to level 3 or 4. Continue maxing out Attack Speed and Critical Chance.
    • Shop Priority: Refine your build. Look for rare versions of your core items (e.g., Red Shredder, Red Glasses). Consider items like Baby with a Beard if you have a spare weapon slot for a unique type, or Potato (Weapon) for raw damage. Max out your Lifesteal and defensive stats.
    • Stats: Aim for 70%+ Critical Chance. Maximize Critical Damage. Ensure you have enough Lifesteal to sustain through boss fights and dense waves. Balance your defenses (Armor, Dodge, Max HP) to avoid being one-shot.
    • Strategy: At this point, you should be a damage-dealing machine. Your primary challenge will be managing enemy density and avoiding overwhelming attacks. Use your high movement speed (from upgrades or items like Adrenaline) to reposition and dodge. Focus fire on elites and bosses, as your critical hits will melt them.

Tips for Success

  • Early Lifesteal is Key: Don't underestimate the power of a single Tentacle in the early-mid game. It allows you to trade hits and stay healthy.
  • Balance Offense and Defense: While this is a DPS build, completely neglecting defense will lead to quick deaths. Aim for a healthy mix of Armor, Dodge, and Lifesteal.
  • Movement is Life: Daggers put you in close quarters. Always be moving, kiting, and dodging enemy attacks. Movement speed upgrades are valuable.
  • Prioritize Shop Rerolls: Don't be afraid to reroll the shop if you're not seeing your core items. Early investment in the right items pays off massively.
  • Consider Character Choices: This build works exceptionally well with characters that naturally boost Attack Speed or Critical Chance, such as Speedy, Lucky, or Demon (if you can manage the HP loss).
  • Boss Strategy: For bosses, stick close, circle them, and unleash your full critical potential. Your Lifesteal should keep you alive through their attacks. If you have a high critical damage multiplier, bosses will fall surprisingly fast.

Common Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them

  • Neglecting Defense: Going all-in on offense without any defense will make you squishy. Always pick up some Armor, Dodge, or Max HP.
  • Too Many Different Weapons: While some builds benefit from variety, the "Crit Potato" thrives on the synergy of multiple Daggers. Don't dilute your build with too many different weapon types unless they offer a specific, powerful synergy (e.g., a single Medical Gun for healing).
  • Low Critical Chance: Critical Damage is useless if you're not critically hitting often. Prioritize Critical Chance until it's consistently high (60%+).
  • Standing Still: This build requires constant movement. Getting cornered or standing still for too long will lead to taking unnecessary damage.

The "Turret Titan" - Engineering a Defensive Powerhouse

Submitted by: EngineerGaming

This build transforms your Brotato into an unmovable object, relying on a multitude of Turrets and Mines to clear waves while you focus on tanking and survival. It's ideal for players who prefer a more strategic, less frantic playstyle, letting their deployed assets do the heavy lifting. The core concept is to maximize Engineering and build a formidable defensive perimeter.

Core Strategy

The "Turret Titan" aims to create a zone of control using deployables. Your primary goal is to stack Engineering, Max HP, and Defense to become incredibly tanky, while your Turrets and Mines deal consistent damage. You'll spend most of your time positioning yourself to draw enemy fire and collecting resources, letting your automated defenses do the work.

Essential Weapons & Items

  • Weapons: Wrench (1-2x) & Medical Gun (1x) / Slingshot (1x)
    • Wrench: Essential for Engineering builds. It provides a significant Engineering bonus and allows you to repair Turrets. You only need one or two for the stat bonus.
    • Medical Gun: Provides Lifesteal and a small amount of healing, which scales with Engineering. Great for sustainability.
    • Slingshot: Offers good range and a decent base damage, useful for picking off stragglers or enemies outside your turret range.
    • Other Engineering Weapons: If you find other weapons with Engineering bonuses, they can be considered, but Wrench is usually superior.
  • Offensive (Engineering-focused) Items:
    • Turret: The cornerstone of the build. You want as many of these as possible. Each Turret scales with your Engineering stat.
    • Mine: Excellent for area denial and burst damage. Also scales with Engineering.
    • Explosive Turret: A more powerful, explosive version of the standard Turret.
    • Landmine: A more powerful, explosive version of the standard Mine.
    • Power Generator: Increases damage based on your attack speed. While your own attack speed might be low, Turrets benefit from this.
    • Baby Elephant: Increases explosion size and damage. Crucial for Mine builds.
    • Pocket Factory: Spawns a new Turret every few seconds. Incredibly powerful.
    • Improved Tools: Flat Engineering bonus.
    • Shuriken: Provides a small amount of Engineering.
  • Defensive/Utility Items:
    • Padding: Flat armor. Essential for tanking.
    • Toughness: Percentage armor.
    • Tree: Max HP and HP regeneration. You want a very high HP pool.
    • Medkit: Flat HP regeneration.
    • Regeneration: Percentage HP regeneration.
    • Cyberball: Dodge.
    • Ritual: Max HP and Lifesteal.
    • Gentle Alien: Max HP and HP regeneration.
    • Broken Halo: Max HP.
    • Donation Box: Max HP.
    • Scar: Max HP.
    • Statue: Max HP and Armor.

Walkthrough Steps & Progression

  1. Early Game (Waves 1-5): Laying the Groundwork
    • Weapons: Grab a Wrench immediately. If you see another, take it. Fill other slots with basic ranged weapons like Slingshot for early clearing.
    • Shop Priority: Look for your first Turret or Mine. Prioritize items that give Engineering (e.g., Improved Tools, more Wrenches). Also, start building your defenses with Padding or Tree.
    • Stats: Prioritize Engineering and Max HP. A little bit of Damage can help your personal weapon.
    • Strategy: Place your Turrets strategically to cover choke points or areas where enemies converge. Use your personal weapon to pick off enemies that get too close or are outside your Turrets' range. Focus on surviving and gathering resources.
  2. Mid Game (Waves 6-12): Building the Fortress
    • Weapons: You should have at least one Wrench, and ideally a Medical Gun. The rest of your slots can be filled with more wrenches for Engineering, or other utility weapons.
    • Shop Priority: This is where you want to stack Turrets and Mines. Look for Explosive Turrets and Landmines. Pocket Factory is a game-changer if you find it. Continue to heavily invest in Max HP, Armor, and HP Regeneration (Tree, Medkit, Padding, Toughness).
    • Stats: Push Engineering as high as possible. Aim for a very high Max HP pool (100+). Maintain a good balance of Armor and HP Regeneration.
    • Strategy: Your Turrets and Mines should be doing the bulk of the damage. Position yourself to draw enemy aggro, protecting your Turrets. Use your Wrench to repair damaged Turrets. For dense waves, drop Mines in enemy paths.
  3. Late Game (Waves 13-20+): The Immovable Object
    • Weapons: Your Wrench(es) and Medical Gun should be highly upgraded. Consider upgrading your Turrets and Mines as well.
    • Shop Priority: Refine your build. Look for rare versions of your core items (e.g., Red Turret, Red Mine). Max out your defensive stats with items like Ritual, Gentle Alien, Broken Halo, Donation Box, and Statue. If you still need more damage, look for more Pocket Factories or Baby Elephants.
    • Stats: Your Engineering should be extremely high. Your Max HP should be massive (200+). Your Armor and HP Regeneration should make you incredibly resilient.
    • Strategy: At this point, you should be a walking tank. Your Turrets and Mines will be decimating waves. Your primary role is to stand firm, collect resources, and occasionally repair your defenses. Bosses will be a test of your tankiness; ensure your Turrets are well-positioned to hit them, and use your Wrench to keep them alive.

Tips for Success

  • Placement Matters: Strategic placement of Turrets and Mines is crucial. Think about choke points, enemy spawn locations, and areas where you can draw enemies into your kill zone.
  • Repair Your Turrets: use your Wrench to repair damaged Turrets, especially during boss fights or intense waves. They are your primary damage source.
  • Prioritize Engineering: Every point of Engineering boosts your Turrets and Mines significantly. This is your most important offensive stat.
  • Tanking is Your Job: Position yourself to absorb enemy attacks, protecting your deployed assets. Your high HP and defenses are there for a reason.
  • Consider Character Choices: This build shines with characters that have natural Engineering bonuses, like Engineer, or those that benefit from high HP/Defense, such as Chunky or Loud.
  • Resource Management: You'll be spending a lot of money on Turrets and Mines. Make sure you're collecting enough materials.

Common Pitfalls & How to Avoid Them

  • Not Enough Turrets/Mines: Relying solely on Engineering stats without enough deployables will result in low damage. You need the actual Turrets and Mines.
  • Neglecting Personal Defense: While your Turrets do the damage, you still need to survive. stack Max HP, Armor, and HP Regeneration.
  • Poor Turret Placement: Placing Turrets in exposed areas where they get destroyed quickly, or in places where they can't hit enemies effectively, will severely hamper your damage.
  • Ignoring Repairs: Letting your Turrets die when you could have repaired them is a waste of resources and damage potential.
  • Low HP Regeneration: While high Max HP is good, without sufficient HP regeneration, you'll slowly chip away and eventually die.
