Introduction to the Walkthrough

Each run in Brotato consists of 20 waves of increasing difficulty, punctuated by visits to the Shop where you must balance offense, defense, and economy. While individual runs vary based on your character choice and item RNG, the wave structure follows a predictable pattern of escalation. This guide breaks down the progression into three critical phases to help you reach and defeat the final boss.

The Early Game (Waves 1-5): Foundation Building

The first five waves are the most critical for your economy. Focus on maximizing your "Harvesting" stat early to ensure a snowball effect. In these waves, enemies are weak; use this time to fill all six weapon slots, even with low-tier versions of your desired weapons, to benefit from set bonuses. Prioritize Luck in the shop to increase the rarity of items and upgrades appearing in later rounds.

The Mid Game (Waves 6-12): Specialization and Survival

During this phase, Elite enemies and larger hordes begin to appear. Wave 9 is a notorious "difficulty spike" with massive groups of fast-moving enemies; ensure you have sufficient "Life Steal" or "HP Regeneration" and at least one source of area-of-effect (AoE) damage by this point. Start refining your build by recycling weak items and focusing on your character's primary scaling stats (e.g., Ranged Damage, Elemental Damage, or Engineering).

The Late Game (Waves 13-20): Scaling for the Boss

As you approach the final wave, focus heavily on defensive layers: Armor, Dodge, and a high HP pool are mandatory to survive the projectiles of later waves. Wave 20 features one or two Bosses (depending on difficulty). To succeed here, you must be able to maintain high sustained damage while dodging complex bullet patterns. Ensure you have movement speed (at least 10-20%) to effectively outrun boss telegraphs and charging enemies.
