Shotguns

The shotgun is the central instrument of fate in Buckshot Roulette. This section delves into the mechanics of the shotgun itself, exploring its chamber, the types of shells it can hold, and how its state directly influences the player's survival and the Dealer's fate. Understanding the shotgun is key to mastering the game.

In Buckshot Roulette, the shotgun is not just a weapon; it's a roulette wheel of life and death. The core mechanic revolves around its cylinder, which holds a finite number of shells. These shells can be either live rounds, which inflict damage, or blanks, which do nothing. The game typically starts with a specific number of shells loaded, for example, a 12-gauge shotgun with 8 slots. The Dealer loads the shotgun, and You must then decide whether to shoot themselves, shoot the Dealer, or pass the turn. The number of live shells versus blanks in the cylinder is crucial. If the shotgun contains only blanks, shooting yourself is safe. If it contains only live rounds, shooting the Dealer is the only option to survive. The probability of a live round is calculated based on the number of live shells remaining and the total number of slots in the cylinder. Items play a significant role in manipulating the shotgun's contents. The 'Saw' allows You to remove a blank from the cylinder, increasing the probability of a live round for the next shot. The 'Handcuffs' prevent the Dealer from adding more shells, locking the current configuration. The 'Mirror' can reflect a shot back at the Dealer, effectively turning a live round against them. The 'Adrenaline' allows an extra turn, giving You more control over the shotgun's state. The 'Double Barrel Dilemma' introduces a variant where the shotgun has two barrels, fundamentally altering the probability calculations and the pace of the game. Mastering the shotgun means understanding these probabilities, anticipating the Dealer's moves, and strategically using items to manipulate the odds in your favor.
