Round 1: Establishing Dominance

The first round is crucial for gaining an early advantage. Your primary goal should be to assess the Dealer's initial strategy and, if possible, land a hit.

  • Initial Shell Count: Pay close attention to the number of live and blank shells. A higher proportion of live shells early on makes the Hand Saw an incredibly powerful opening move.
  • Item Prioritization:
    • Hand Saw: If you receive a Hand Saw and there are 3 or more live shells in the chamber, strongly consider using it on your first shot. Doubling damage early can put the Dealer on the defensive.
    • Cigarettes: If you take damage, Cigarettes are invaluable for restoring health. However, in Round 1, prioritize offensive items if you're at full health.
    • Magnifying Glass: Use this to gain information on the next shell. This is particularly useful if the shell count is ambiguous (e.g., 2 live, 2 blank) and you're deciding between shooting yourself or the Dealer.
  • Strategic Self-Shot: If the Magnifying Glass reveals a blank shell, shooting yourself is a free turn and allows you to keep the initiative. This is a low-risk, high-reward play that can quickly cycle to a live shell for the Dealer.

Round 2: Adapting and Exploiting

Round 2 introduces more complex item combinations and often sees both players with fewer health points. This is where strategic item hoarding and calculated risks truly shine.

  • Item Combinations:
    • Hand Saw + Magnifying Glass: If you have both, use the Magnifying Glass first. If it's a live shell, the Hand Saw becomes a devastating blow. If it's blank, you can save the Hand Saw for a more opportune moment.
    • Cigarettes + Adrenaline: If you're low on health and have both, consider using Cigarettes first to restore health, then Adrenaline for an extra turn. This can turn the tide of a close round.
    • Cuff Links: These are excellent for disrupting the Dealer's momentum. Use them when you suspect the Dealer has a strong offensive item or a high chance of hitting you.
  • Dealer's Health Assessment: Keep a close eye on the Dealer's health. If they are at 1 or 2 health, even a single live shell shot with a Hand Saw can end the round.
  • Risk Management with Blank Shells: If you've used a Magnifying Glass and know the next shell is blank, shooting yourself is still a strong play, especially if you have items that benefit from extra turns (e.g., Adrenaline).

Round 3: The Final Showdown

Round 3 is the most intense, with higher stakes and often more powerful item distributions. Every decision can be the difference between victory and defeat.

  • Aggressive Item Usage: Do not hoard items in Round 3. Use them strategically to secure hits or prevent the Dealer from hitting you.
  • Defensive Prioritization:
    • Defibrillator: If you receive this item, it's a lifeline. Consider saving it for when you are at 1 health, as it gives you a second chance.
    • Cuff Links: These are paramount for controlling the Dealer's turns. Use them to prevent the Dealer from using a Hand Saw on you or to force them to shoot a blank shell.
  • High-Risk, High-Reward Plays:
    • Double Damage with Hand Saw: If you have a Hand Saw and a high probability of a live shell (e.g., 3 live, 1 blank), taking the shot at the Dealer can be a game-ending move.
    • Adrenaline Rush: If you're confident in your ability to land a hit, Adrenaline can give you the crucial extra turn needed to finish the Dealer off.
  • Last-Ditch Efforts: If you're at very low health and the Dealer has several items, consider using a Magnifying Glass to determine the next shell. If it's blank, shooting yourself for an extra turn might be your only hope to draw a favorable item or a live shell for the Dealer.
