Machine gun nests, particularly those with MG42s, can be devastating 'bosses' that pin down your squad and inflict heavy casualties. They often have a wide field of fire and are heavily armored. Strategy:
- Suppressing Fire: Use your primary weapon to lay down suppressing fire, forcing the gunner to duck.
- Flanking: While suppressed, try to find a flanking route. This is often the most effective method.
- Grenades: Cooked fragmentation grenades are excellent for clearing nests. Aim to land it directly in the emplacement.
- Smoke Grenades: Use smoke to obscure the gunner's vision, allowing you to advance or flank safely.
- Coordinated Push: If with AI squadmates, let them draw fire while you move into position.
Never charge a machine gun nest head-on unless absolutely necessary and you have overwhelming firepower. Patience and tactical movement are key.
