Mission 1: The End of the Beginning

Your journey begins in the scorching deserts of North Africa. This mission serves as an introduction to basic combat and squad mechanics.

Objective: Clear the Trenches

• Initial Engagement: As you start, you'll be equipped with a Lee-Enfield rifle. Follow your squadmates. Take cover behind the sandbags and engage the German soldiers in the trenches ahead. Prioritize headshots for quick eliminations.
• Advance Through Trenches: Move cautiously through the trench system. German soldiers will pop up from various positions. Listen for their shouts and watch your mini-map for enemy indicators.
• Grenade Usage: You'll encounter entrenched machine gun nests. Use your grenades (press 'G') to flush out or eliminate the operators. Aim for the center of the nest for maximum effect.
• Weapon Scavenging: Keep an eye out for dropped Kar98k rifles from fallen enemies. These are good alternatives if you run low on Lee-Enfield ammo.

Objective: Destroy the Flak 88

• Approach the Flak Gun: After clearing the trenches, your squad will move towards a large Flak 88 anti-aircraft gun. Expect heavy resistance from German infantry guarding it.
• Utilize Cover: Use the craters and destroyed vehicles as cover as you advance. Do not rush into open areas.
• Eliminate MG Nests: There will likely be at least one MG42 nest covering the approach to the Flak 88. Suppress or flank these positions. A well-placed grenade can clear them out quickly.
• Plant the Charge: Once the area around the Flak 88 is clear, approach the gun and interact with it to plant the explosive charge. Retreat to a safe distance immediately after planting.

This mission continues your fight in North Africa, focusing on a larger-scale assault.

Objective: Secure the Village Outskirts

• Initial Push: You'll begin near a small village. Your primary objective is to clear the outer buildings. Stick with your squad and use the buildings themselves for cover.
• Room Clearing: When entering buildings, be prepared for close-quarters combat. Use your secondary weapon (often a Sten or Thompson SMG if you've picked one up) for better effectiveness indoors.
• Watch for Snipers: German snipers often position themselves on rooftops or in upper windows. Listen for the distinct crack of their rifles and scan high vantage points.

Objective: Neutralize the Mortar Positions

• Locate Mortars: Your commander will direct you to several mortar positions shelling your forces. These are usually located in open areas or behind low walls.
• Flanking Maneuver: Instead of a direct assault, try to flank the mortar crews. Use the surrounding terrain and buildings to approach unseen.
• Quick Elimination: Mortar crews are often lightly defended. A quick burst from your SMG or a well-aimed rifle shot can neutralize them efficiently. There are typically 2-3 mortar positions to destroy.

Objective: Defend the Supply Depot

• Establish Defensive Positions: After clearing the mortars, you'll be tasked with defending a supply depot from a German counter-attack. Find good cover points, such as sandbag emplacements or sturdy walls.
• Prioritize Targets: German infantry will advance in waves. Focus on enemies with LMGs first, as they can suppress your position effectively.
• Resupply: Ammunition crates are usually present within the depot area. Don't hesitate to resupply your weapons when there's a lull in the fighting.
• Hold the Line: The counter-attack will last for a set period. Stay vigilant, communicate with your squad (they'll often call out enemy positions), and hold your ground until the objective is complete.
