Welcome, comrade, to the Soviet Campaign! This section will guide you through the harrowing battles of the Eastern Front, from the desperate defense of Moscow to the relentless push against the Nazi war machine. Prepare for brutal urban combat, strategic flanking maneuvers, and intense firefights. Remember to conserve your ammunition, use cover effectively, and always stick with your squad.

Mission 1: Winter's Edge

Your journey begins amidst the frozen landscapes outside Moscow, tasked with repelling a German advance. This mission focuses on basic combat mechanics and squad-based tactics.

Initial Engagement & Flanking

  • Objective: Repel the German attack.
  • Upon spawning, you'll be equipped with a Mosin-Nagant rifle and a Tokarev TT-33 pistol. Immediately take cover behind the snowdrifts or ruined structures.
  • Focus your fire on the German soldiers advancing across the open field. Prioritize enemies with machine guns (e.g., MG42) as they can suppress your squad effectively.
  • Listen for your squad leader's commands. He will often direct you to flank enemy positions. Move to the left side of the initial engagement area, using the scattered debris and low walls for concealment.
  • You'll encounter a small group of Germans entrenched near a destroyed tank. Use a F1 Grenade (press '4' to select, then 'G' to throw) to dislodge them before pushing forward.

Securing the Farmhouse

  • Objective: Clear the farmhouse of enemy forces.
  • After the initial push, your squad will advance towards a two-story farmhouse. Expect heavy resistance from inside and around the perimeter.
  • Approach the farmhouse cautiously. German soldiers will be positioned in the windows and behind sandbags outside. Use your Mosin-Nagant for accurate long-range shots.
  • Strategy: Have your squad suppress the front entrance while you move to the right side of the farmhouse. There's often a side door or a broken window you can use for entry.
  • Once inside, clear the ground floor. Be wary of enemies hiding behind furniture. Collect any dropped MP40 submachine guns for close-quarters combat, but remember their limited range.
  • Proceed upstairs. Expect at least two to three enemies in the upper rooms. Use your pistol or an MP40 for quick engagements.
  • After clearing the farmhouse, resupply on ammunition from fallen enemies. Look for health packs (represented by a red cross) if your health is low.

Defending the Roadblock

  • Objective: Hold the roadblock against the German counter-attack.
  • Once the farmhouse is secure, your squad will move to a makeshift roadblock further down the road. This is a defensive stand.
  • Position yourself behind the sandbags or the overturned truck. German infantry will advance from the far end of the road and from the woods to your left.
  • A German Panzer IV tank will eventually appear. Your Mosin-Nagant will be ineffective against it. Wait for your squad to provide you with anti-tank grenades (Molotovs) or direct you to a nearby Panzerschreck.
  • If a Panzerschreck is available, locate it near the large wooden crates on the right side of the roadblock. Aim for the tank's tracks or rear armor for maximum damage. It usually takes 2-3 direct hits to destroy.
  • Continue to eliminate infantry while dealing with the tank. Once the tank is destroyed and the remaining infantry are neutralized, the mission will conclude.
