Heavy Machine Gunners (HMGs) are formidable enemies in Call of Duty 2026, characterized by their sustained suppressive fire and high damage output. They are often found in fortified positions, manning stationary machine guns or wielding heavy portable variants. Their primary strength is their ability to lay down a wall of lead that can pin down entire squads and chew through cover. Engaging an HMG head-on is often a suicidal endeavor. Their weakness lies in their limited mobility and their exposed position when firing.
To counter HMGs, flanking maneuvers are essential. Try to find a route that allows you to approach them from the side or rear, bypassing their primary field of fire. Explosives, such as satchel charges or well-aimed grenades, can be highly effective in destroying their emplacements or forcing them to abandon their position. If direct assault is unavoidable, use smoke grenades to obscure their vision and advance quickly between bursts of fire. Targeting their ammunition supply or the gunner themselves with precise shots from a distance, ideally with a sniper rifle, can also neutralize the threat. Be patient and wait for an opening; rushing them directly will likely result in your demise.
