Mission 4: Night Drop
Welcome, soldier, to "Night Drop," a mission that truly tests your mettle under the cover of darkness. This guide will help you navigate the treacherous French countryside, eliminate enemy threats, and secure your objectives. Remember, on Veteran difficulty, every bullet counts, and every piece of cover is vital. Adaptability is key; if one approach fails, try another. And always, always listen to your squad – they often provide crucial tactical cues.
Initial Drop and Rendezvous
- Objective: Rendezvous with your squad.
- Upon landing, immediately take cover behind the nearest obstacle. German patrols are active.
- Move cautiously towards the sound of gunfire. Your squad will be engaging a small group of German soldiers.
- Assist your squad in eliminating the initial hostiles. Prioritize enemies with clear lines of sight to your position.
- Once the area is clear, regroup with your team. A checkpoint (CP) will trigger here.
Pushing Through the Farmhouse
- Objective: Clear the farmhouse of enemy resistance.
- Advance with your squad towards the farmhouse. Expect heavy resistance from multiple directions.
- Strategy: use the stone walls and overturned carts for cover. Do not rush into the open courtyard.
- Left Flank: Consider flanking around the left side of the farmhouse if the direct assault proves too difficult. This often provides a better angle on entrenched machine gunners.
- Inside the Farmhouse: Once you breach the farmhouse, be wary of close-quarters combat. Shotguns can be highly effective here if you find one. Look for a Kar98k or an MP40 dropped by enemies if you need a more versatile weapon.
- Clear all rooms on the ground floor and then proceed upstairs. Expect a few more enemies in the upper levels.
- After securing the farmhouse, another checkpoint will be reached.
Securing the Road and Anti-Tank Position
- Objective: Advance along the road and neutralize the anti-tank gun.
- Exit the farmhouse and proceed along the dirt road. German reinforcements will appear, often from the direction of the anti-tank gun.
- Cover is Crucial: Use the hedgerows and any abandoned vehicles for cover as you move.
- Anti-Tank Gun: The primary threat here is the German anti-tank gun, usually manned by several soldiers.
- Approach: Do not charge directly at the gun. Look for a flanking route, possibly through the fields to the right or left of the road, to get a better angle on the gun crew.
- Grenades: A well-placed grenade can quickly clear out the gun's crew. If you're low on grenades, prioritize headshots on the gunner.
- Once the anti-tank gun is neutralized and the surrounding area is clear of hostiles, a final checkpoint for this section will trigger. Prepare for the next phase of the mission.
