Heavily fortified MG42 nests and bunkers are common obstacles, especially in defensive missions or when assaulting entrenched positions. The MG42's high rate of fire can pin down your entire squad and make direct assaults suicidal.

Strategy:
- Grenade Assault: This is often the most effective method. Cook a fragmentation grenade and throw it directly into the bunker opening or near the MG42 position. A well-placed grenade can neutralize the gunner and any supporting infantry.
- Flanking Maneuver: Look for alternative routes around the bunker. Many levels offer paths that allow you to get behind or to the side of the MG42 nest, giving you a clear shot at the gunner without being exposed to their fire.
- Smoke Grenades: Use smoke to obscure the MG42's line of sight, allowing you to advance closer or flank without taking heavy fire.
- Sniper Fire (if applicable): If you have a scoped rifle (like the Kar98k or Lee-Enfield), you might be able to pick off the gunner from a distance. This requires precision and often a clear line of sight.
- Suppressive Fire: While not a primary solution, laying down heavy suppressive fire with an automatic weapon can sometimes force the gunner to duck, giving you a small window to advance or throw a grenade.
Never attempt a direct frontal assault on an active MG42 nest without first neutralizing it. Patience and tactical use of grenades or flanking routes are key to overcoming these formidable defenses.
