Post-Game Content & New Game+

Congratulations, soldier! You've completed the main campaign of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (RPG). But the fight isn't over yet. This section will guide you through the exciting post-game content and prepare you for the ultimate challenge: New Game+.

Post-Game Activities & Collectibles

Even after the credits roll, there's plenty to do. Focus on these objectives to truly master the game and unlock hidden lore.

  • Intel Scavenger Hunt: Throughout the campaign, you've likely stumbled upon some of the 30 pieces of Intel. Now's the time to track down the rest!
    • Act I Intel: Revisit "Crew Expendable" for the first piece in the captain's quarters, and "Blackout" for two more – one in the church attic and another near the downed helicopter.
    • Act II Intel: "Charlie Don't Surf" has three pieces, often found in the market stalls or inside the TV station. "The Bog" offers two, typically in the ruined buildings.
    • Act III Intel: "All Ghillied Up" famously contains three pieces, one near the Ferris wheel, another in the sniper's nest, and a third by the swimming pool. "One Shot, One Kill" has two more, usually in the abandoned hotel.
    • Reward: Collecting all 30 pieces of Intel unlocks the "Historian" achievement/trophy and grants you access to exclusive backstory documents in the main menu, detailing the origins of the Ultranationalist threat and the motivations of characters like Zakhaev.
  • Challenge Missions: Head to the "Challenges" section in the main menu. These are standalone scenarios designed to test your combat prowess.
    • "Mile High Club": This iconic mission puts you on a hijacked plane with a strict time limit. Master the quick-scope with the M4 Carbine and use flashbangs effectively to clear the tight corridors. Completing this on Veteran difficulty is a true test of skill and unlocks the "Mile High Club" achievement/trophy.
    • "Weapon Proficiency Trials": Each weapon class has a series of trials, from headshot challenges with sniper rifles to multi-kills with shotguns. Completing these unlocks unique weapon camos and attachments for use in New Game+. For example, completing all SMG trials unlocks the "Urban Digital" camo for the MP5 and the "Red Dot Sight (Enhanced)" attachment.
  • Veteran Difficulty Completion: If you haven't already, tackle the entire campaign on Veteran difficulty. This is where the game truly shines, demanding tactical thinking, precise aiming, and expert use of cover.
    • Strategy: Patience is key. Use cover extensively, prioritize high-threat targets (shotgunners, RPG wielders), and don't be afraid to retreat and regroup. Flashbangs and smoke grenades are invaluable for pushing through choke points.
    • Reward: Completing the campaign on Veteran unlocks the "No Easy Days" achievement/trophy and grants you the "Veteran" player icon for online multiplayer (if applicable).

New Game+ Preparation

New Game+ allows you to replay the campaign with all your unlocked weapons, attachments, and perks from your previous playthrough. This is your chance to dominate the battlefield from the start!

  • Optimize Your Loadouts: Before starting New Game+, ensure your custom classes are perfectly tuned.
    • Assault Rifle Build: Consider the M4 Carbine with a Red Dot Sight, Foregrip, and ACOG Scope for versatility. Pair it with the Bandolier and Stopping Power perks.
    • Sniper Build: The R700 with an ACOG Scope and Silencer is excellent for stealth. Combine it with the Deep Impact and Extreme Conditioning perks for mobility and penetration.
    • Shotgun Build: The M1014 with a Grip and Extended Mags is devastating in close quarters. Use the Juggernaut and Steady Aim perks to maximize its effectiveness.
  • Max Out Weapon Levels: The more you use a weapon, the more attachments and proficiencies you unlock. Spend some time in the post-game challenge missions or replaying favorite campaign levels to fully level up your preferred arsenal. For example, reaching max level with the AK-47 unlocks the "Grenade Launcher" attachment, which can be a game-changer in early campaign missions on New Game+.
  • Unlock All Perks: Ensure you've unlocked and experimented with all available perks. Some, like "Sleight of Hand" (faster reloads) or "Overkill" (two primary weapons), can drastically alter your playstyle and make early New Game+ encounters much easier. You unlock perks by achieving specific kill milestones or completing certain challenges.

Starting New Game+

Once you're ready, navigate to the main menu and select "New Game+". You'll be prompted to choose your difficulty. We highly recommend tackling New Game+ on Veteran for the ultimate challenge and satisfaction.

  • Early Game Dominance: Enjoy the power fantasy of starting "Crew Expendable" with a fully kitted-out M4 Carbine and all your perks. You'll breeze through initial encounters that were once challenging.
  • Experiment with Builds: New Game+ is the perfect opportunity to try out unconventional weapon combinations or perk setups that you might have shied away from in your first playthrough.
  • Speedrunning Potential: With your enhanced arsenal and knowledge of the levels, New Game+ on lower difficulties can be an excellent way to practice speedrunning the campaign, aiming for the fastest completion times.
