Welcome, recruit! This section will guide you through the core objectives and critical path of each mission in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. We'll break down each stage, highlight key items, and offer strategies to ensure your survival and success on the battlefield.

5.1 - 'F.N.G.'

Your journey begins with a basic training exercise. This mission serves as an introduction to the game's mechanics and controls.

• Objective 1: Complete the Obstacle Course.

  Follow Captain Price's instructions. You'll start by navigating a series of obstacles, including climbing over walls and crawling under barbed wire. Pay attention to the on-screen prompts for movement and interaction.

• Objective 2: Demonstrate Weapon Proficiency.

  Proceed to the firing range. You'll be tasked with firing various weapons, including the M16A4 assault rifle and the USP .45 pistol. Aim for headshots on the targets to maximize your score. Reloading and switching weapons are key skills to practice here.

• Objective 3: Complete the CQC Test.

  Enter the "Kill House." This timed course requires you to quickly and accurately eliminate cardboard targets, some of which are "hostiles" and others "civilians." Use your primary weapon for most targets, but be prepared to switch to your pistol for faster target acquisition or to conserve ammo. A good time here will earn you bragging rights!

5.2 - 'Crew Expendable'

This is your first taste of real combat. You'll be infiltrating a cargo ship in the Bering Strait.

• Objective 1: Infiltrate the Cargo Ship.

  You'll begin in a Zodiac boat with Captain Price and Gaz. Once on board, follow your squad. Use suppressed weapons like the MP5 to maintain stealth as long as possible. Look for enemies patrolling the deck and use cover effectively.

• Objective 2: Clear the Bridge.

  Work your way through the ship's superstructure. Expect close-quarters combat. Utilize flashbangs to disorient groups of enemies before engaging. After clearing the bridge, you'll gain valuable intel.

• Objective 3: Secure the Cargo Hold.

  Descend into the ship's cargo hold. This area is often heavily guarded. Be mindful of enemies hiding behind crates and containers. Look for the manifest to confirm the nature of the cargo. You'll encounter a crucial item here: the Nuclear Device. Be prepared for a timed sequence to disarm it.

• Objective 4: Extract from the Ship.

  After securing the cargo, you'll need to make a hasty exit. Expect heavy enemy resistance as you backtrack to the extraction point. Keep an eye out for enemy reinforcements rappelling down ropes or emerging from doorways.

5.3 - 'Blackout'

You're now on the ground in Russia, tasked with a stealthy reconnaissance mission.

• Objective 1: Rendezvous with Nikolai.

  Starting in a snowy forest, your primary goal is to reach a safe house where the informant, Nikolai, is being held. Maintain a low profile. The M4 Carbine with Silencer is your best friend here. Avoid direct confrontations where possible.

• Objective 2: Neutralize Enemy Patrols.

  As you approach the safe house, you'll encounter several enemy patrols. Use your silenced weapon for stealthy takedowns. Pay attention to enemy patrol routes and use environmental cover (trees, rocks) to your advantage. A well-placed knife kill can save you ammo and maintain your cover.

• Objective 3: Secure the Safe House.

  Upon reaching the safe house, you'll need to clear it of enemy forces. This often involves breaching and clearing rooms. Use grenades to flush out enemies or clear tight spaces. Nikolai will be found inside, often tied up or guarded.

• Objective 4: Escort Nikolai to Extraction.

  Once Nikolai is secured, you'll need to escort him to a designated extraction point. Expect increased enemy presence as your cover is blown. Protect Nikolai at all costs; his health bar is visible and his death means mission failure. Utilize smoke grenades to provide cover during open-field movements.
