Mission Overview: Echoes of a Cold War
In this mission, Mason and Woods travel to the Yamantau Mountains to infiltrate a derelict Soviet base. The objective is to recover a mainframe server containing vital intel on Perseus. The mission blends long-range sniping, vertical traversal, and intense close-quarters combat within the decaying ruins of a massive underground facility.

- Recover the Server: Navigate the crumbling interior of the base to find the mainframe.
- Exfiltrate via Skyhook: Fight off waves of Soviet reinforcements while waiting for the extraction plane.
Recommended Loadout
You begin with a silenced sniper rifle and a suppressed pistol. Keep the sniper rifle for the initial valley clearing. Once inside the silo, swap your secondary for a high-rate-of-fire SMG or the AK-47 found on many guards, as the engagement distances drop significantly.
Combat Strategies & Stealth Tips
- The Silent Entry: At the start, use your sniper rifle to thin out guards on the catwalks and the exterior towers. Wait for the wind to howl to mask your shots. If you alert the guards early, you will face heavy MG fire from the watchtowers.
- The Bow: Midway through, you can acquire a tactical bow with explosive and standard bolts. Use the standard bolts for silent takedowns against armored patrols to avoid triggering alarms in the narrow corridors.
- Environmental Hazards: Several sections feature crumbling floors. Watch your footing and use the grappling hook points highlighted by Woods to avoid falling into the reactor pits.
Enemy Types & Challenges
Expect standard Soviet infantry supported by Heavy Soldiers wearing ballistic vests. In the final server room, you will face enemies equipped with flashbangs and tactical shields. Aim for the feet of shield-bearers or use a frag grenade to force them to stumble.
Crucial Intel & Decisions
- Evidence (Operation Red Circus): In the radar building, look for a table with a tape recorder. This is critical for the side mission "Operation Red Circus."
- Decision Point: You will find a captured operative. You can choose to interrogate or leave them; while it doesn't drastically change the ending, it provides additional lore regarding Operation Greenlight.
Extraction Strategy
Once you reach the extraction point, you must defend the server crate. Stay near the perimeter of the platform to maintain a 360-degree view. Use the minigun available in the final stage to prioritize taking down the incoming transport helicopters before they can drop off more troops.
