Looting Efficiency & Inventory Management
Mastering looting and inventory management is crucial for survival and success in Warzone. Efficiently acquiring the right gear and knowing what to keep (and what to discard) can be the difference between a triumphant victory and an early trip to the Gulag. This section will guide you through optimizing your loot runs and maintaining a lean, effective inventory.
Initial Drop & Early Game Looting
Your first moments in Verdansk or Rebirth Island are critical. Prioritize weapons, armor plates, and cash. Don't linger too long in one spot, especially in high-traffic areas like Superstore or Downtown. Move quickly, grab essentials, and get ready to engage or reposition.
- Weapons: Aim for at least one primary weapon (e.g., an Assault Rifle like the M4A1 or an SMG like the MP5) and a secondary (a pistol is fine initially). Look for weapons with higher rarity (blue, purple, orange) as they come with attachments.
- Armor Plates: Always prioritize picking up Armor Plates. You can carry a maximum of 5 in your active inventory, with additional plates stacking in your backpack. Aim to have at least 3-5 on hand at all times.
- Cash: Collect as much cash as possible. This is vital for purchasing Loadout Drops, UAVs, Self-Revive Kits, and Armor Plate Bundles from Buy Stations.
- Contracts: Immediately look for a nearby contract, especially a Scavenger Contract. These will guide you to multiple loot caches, offering a guaranteed stream of cash, weapons, and equipment. Recon Contracts are also excellent for early-game cash and intel.
Mid-Game & Backpack Optimization
As the game progresses, your inventory will likely fill up. This is where smart management comes in. You'll need to make decisions about what to keep and what to drop based on your playstyle and team composition.
Essential Items to Always Carry:
- Armor Plates: Maintain a full stack of 5 active plates, and ideally 3-5 more in your backpack.
- Self-Revive Kit: A lifesaver in solos and crucial for team play. Purchase one from a Buy Station if you don't find one.
- Lethal Equipment: Frag Grenades and Semtex are versatile for flushing out enemies or dealing damage. Keep at least one.
- Tactical Equipment: Stun Grenades, Flash Grenades, and Smoke Grenades offer tactical advantages. Stuns and Flashes are excellent for pushing, while Smoke can provide cover for revives or rotations.
- Field Upgrade: Dead Silence for aggressive plays or stealth, or Trophy System for defending positions or vehicles.
What to Consider Dropping:
- Excess Ammo: While important, carrying too much ammo for a weapon you rarely use is inefficient. Drop ammo for weapons you've swapped out.
- Duplicate Field Upgrades: You can only carry one Field Upgrade at a time. If you find a better one, swap it out.
- Low-Rarity Weapons: Once you have your preferred loadout, drop any common (grey) or uncommon (green) weapons you picked up early on, unless they are a specific weapon type you need for a challenge.
- Extra Gas Masks: While a Gas Mask is invaluable, carrying more than one is generally unnecessary unless you plan a risky rotation through the gas.
Looting from Supply Boxes & Player Kills
Supply Boxes (Chests) are your primary source of loot. They come in various rarities, with orange Legendary Chests offering the best gear. Player kills are also a fantastic way to acquire high-tier loot, often including custom loadout weapons and full armor stacks.
- Supply Boxes:
- Standard (Blue): Common weapons, cash, ammo, armor plates.
- Rare (Green): Better chance for uncommon/rare weapons, more cash, equipment.
- Epic (Purple): Good chance for epic weapons, significant cash, field upgrades.
- Legendary (Orange): Best chance for legendary weapons, large cash stacks, high-tier equipment, and sometimes killstreaks.
- Player Kills: When looting a downed enemy, prioritize their custom weapons (indicated by a unique icon), armor plates, cash, and any killstreaks (UAV, Cluster Strike, Precision Airstrike). Quickly scan their backpack for useful items like Self-Revive Kits or extra Field Upgrades. Be swift, as lingering too long makes you an easy target.
Buy Station Strategy
Buy Stations are your inventory's best friend. Use them strategically to replenish essentials and gain advantages.
- Loadout Drop Marker: Your top priority. Getting your custom loadout weapons is a massive power spike.
- Armor Plate Bundle: Always buy these if you're low on plates and have the cash.
- Self-Revive Kit: Essential for solos and highly recommended for squads.
- UAV: Provides crucial enemy intel, especially in the mid to late game.
- Munitions Box: If your team is low on ammo or equipment, this can be a game-changer.
By following these guidelines, you'll spend less time fumbling through your inventory and more time focused on the action, giving you a significant edge in Verdansk.
