Game Modes (Beyond Battle Royale)
While the heart of Warzone beats with its signature Battle Royale mode, the game offers a rich tapestry of alternative experiences that cater to different playstyles and objectives. These modes provide unique challenges, opportunities for progression, and a fresh perspective on the vast Warzone maps. Mastering them can not only hone your skills but also unlock exclusive rewards and a deeper understanding of the game's mechanics.
DMZ: Extraction Royale
DMZ stands as a distinct, high-stakes extraction mode where your primary goal isn't to be the last squad standing, but to infiltrate, complete objectives, loot valuable items, and successfully exfil from the Exclusion Zone. It blends elements of PvE and PvP, creating an unpredictable and thrilling environment.
DMZ Objectives & Progression:
- Faction Missions: These are your primary source of progression and rewards. Each faction (e.g., Legion, White Lotus, Crown) offers a series of missions with increasing difficulty and lucrative payouts. Missions often involve specific tasks like:
- Eliminating High-Value Targets (HVTs): Look for skull icons on your tac-map indicating powerful AI commanders or enemy operators.
- Securing Intel: This could involve downloading data from specific computers in POIs like the Observatory or Rohan Oil, or retrieving physical documents from Strongholds.
- Extracting Specific Items: Missions might require you to find and exfil with rare items such as a "Gold Skull" from a locked room, or a "GPU" from a computer tower.
- Completing Contracts: Similar to Battle Royale, contracts like "Safecracker" or "Hostage Rescue" can provide cash and mission progress.
- Contraband Weapons: Weapons you extract successfully become part of your Contraband stash. These are one-time use weapons that can be equipped for future deployments. Losing them means they're gone forever.
- Insured Weapon Slots: Initially, you have one Insured Weapon Slot. This allows you to bring a custom-built weapon into DMZ. If you lose it, there's a cooldown before you can use it again. Completing higher-tier Faction Missions unlocks additional Insured Slots, significantly enhancing your loadout flexibility.
- Barter System: Specific items found in the Exclusion Zone can be traded at Buy Stations for valuable gear, killstreaks, or even plate carriers. For example, three "Electrical Components" and two "Gas Cans" might barter for a "3-Plate Armor Vest."
Key DMZ Strategies:
- Gear Up Wisely: Before deploying, assess your Faction Missions. Do you need a specific weapon type? Do you anticipate heavy AI resistance? A well-rounded loadout with a long-range option (e.g., an SP-X 80 or MCPR-300) and a close-quarters weapon (e.g., an FSS Hurricane or Lachmann Sub) is often ideal.
- Prioritize Plate Carriers: A "3-Plate Armor Vest" is crucial for survivability. Scavenge for armor plates constantly. Consider crafting one at a Buy Station if you have the components.
- Understand Exfil Points: There are multiple exfil points marked on your map. Plan your route to one, especially as the gas spreads. Be aware that exfil points are often hotbeds for enemy operators looking to ambush. The "Final Exfil" helicopter is a high-risk, high-reward option.
- Strongholds and Black Sites: Strongholds are AI-defended locations offering good loot, including keys and valuable items. Black Sites are even more dangerous, requiring a "Black Site Key" to access, but yield exceptional rewards like advanced killstreaks and high-tier weaponry.
- Keys and Locked Spaces: Throughout the map, you'll find various "Keys" (e.g., "Sawah Hotel Room 302 Key," "Police Academy Key"). These open specific locked rooms or buildings that contain rare loot, mission items, or even weapon cases. Consult community-made maps for key locations and their corresponding locked areas.
- Weapon Cases: These highly contested objectives appear in specific locations (e.g., the "Al-Mazrah City Post Office" or the "Zaya Observatory"). Extracting a Weapon Case grants unique rewards like weapon blueprints, emblems, and calling cards. Be prepared for intense PvP encounters when attempting to secure one.
Resurgence: Fast-Paced Action
Resurgence modes (e.g., Ashika Island, Vondel) offer a faster, more aggressive take on Battle Royale. The core mechanic is that as long as one squadmate is alive, fallen teammates can redeploy after a short timer, provided the timer hasn't expired or the final circles haven't closed. This encourages relentless engagements and less downtime.
Resurgence Strategies:
- Stay Together: With quick redeploys, sticking close to your squad is paramount. You can quickly reinforce each other in firefights.
- Aggressive Play: Don't be afraid to push engagements. Even if you go down, your teammates can often revive you or eliminate the threat, allowing you to redeploy.
- Cash is King: Money is vital for buying back fallen teammates from Buy Stations, purchasing killstreaks, and acquiring essential gear. Prioritize looting cash and completing contracts like "Supply Run" or "Scavenger."
- UAVs are Essential: Given the fast pace and smaller maps, UAVs are incredibly powerful for tracking enemy movements and anticipating pushes.
- High-Tier Loot Zones: Specific areas on Resurgence maps (e.g., "Tsuki Castle" on Ashika Island, "Market" on Vondel) often contain higher concentrations of valuable loot and cash. Be prepared for heavy competition in these areas.
