Cross-Platform Play & Progression

One of Warzone's most compelling features is its robust cross-platform ecosystem, allowing you to squad up with friends regardless of their preferred gaming device and ensuring your hard-earned progress carries over seamlessly. This guide will walk you through how to leverage these features to maximize your Warzone experience.

Understanding Cross-Play

Cross-play in Warzone enables players across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC to join the same lobbies and play together. This significantly expands You pool, leading to faster matchmaking and a more diverse competitive environment. While the core experience is unified, it's important to note some nuances:

  • Input-Based Matchmaking: Warzone typically prioritizes input device when forming lobbies. This means if you're using a controller on PC, you're more likely to be matched with other controller players, helping to balance the playing field against mouse and keyboard users.
  • Platform-Specific Features: While the game is largely identical, certain platform-specific features or graphical settings might differ. For example, Warzone Mobile offers a unique 120-player Verdansk experience not available on console or PC due to hardware limitations and optimization choices.

How to Manage Cross-Play Settings

By default, cross-play is enabled in Warzone to ensure optimal matchmaking. However, you have the option to adjust this:

  1. Access the Settings Menu: From the main Warzone lobby, navigate to the 'Settings' icon (usually a cogwheel).
  2. Navigate to Account & Network: Within the settings, find the 'Account & Network' tab.
  3. Toggle Cross-Play: Here you will find the 'Crossplay' option. You can toggle this 'Enabled' or 'Disabled'.

Recommendation: We strongly recommend keeping cross-play enabled. Disabling it can significantly increase matchmaking times, especially in less populated regions or during off-peak hours, as it restricts you to playing only with others on your specific platform who also have cross-play disabled.

Seamless Cross-Progression

Your Warzone journey is tied to your Activision account, not your specific gaming platform. This means all your progress, unlocks, and purchases are accessible no matter where you play.

What Carries Over?

  • Player Level & Prestige: Your overall player level and any Prestige ranks achieved will be consistent across all linked platforms.
  • Battle Pass Progress: Any progress made on your current Battle Pass, including tier unlocks and rewards, will be synchronized.
  • Weapon Levels & Camos: All weapon experience gained, weapon levels, and unlocked camos (including Mastery Camos like Gold, Platinum, Polyatomic, and Orion) are fully transferable.
  • Operator Unlocks & Skins: Any Operators you've unlocked, either through challenges or purchases, along with their associated skins, will be available.
  • Bundles & Store Purchases: Any cosmetic bundles, weapon blueprints, or other items purchased from the in-game store will be accessible on all linked platforms.
  • Challenges & Missions: Progress on daily, weekly, and seasonal challenges, as well as specific Operator missions, will carry over.
  • CoD Points (CP): While your CP balance is tied to your Activision account, CP purchased on one platform (e.g., PlayStation Store) may only be spendable on that specific platform due to platform holder restrictions. However, items purchased with CP will be available everywhere.

Linking Your Activision Account

To ensure cross-progression works correctly, you must link your platform accounts (PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, Battle.net) to your Activision account.

  1. Create an Activision Account: If you don't already have one, you'll be prompted to create one the first time you launch a Call of Duty title. Alternatively, you can create one at callofduty.com/profile.
  2. Link Accounts In-Game:
    • Launch Warzone on your preferred platform.
    • Navigate to the 'Settings' menu.
    • Go to the 'Account & Network' tab.
    • Select 'Account Management' or 'Link Accounts'.
    • Follow the on-screen prompts to link your PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, or Battle.net account to your Activision account.
  3. Verify Link Status: You can also verify your linked accounts by logging into your Activision profile on the official Call of Duty website.

Important Note: Once a platform account is linked to an Activision account, it cannot be unlinked and relinked to a different Activision account for a period of 12 months. Choose wisely!

Playing with Friends Across Platforms

The friends list in Warzone is unified through your Activision account, making it easy to invite anyone, regardless of their console or PC setup.

  1. Add Friends via Activision ID:
    • From the main lobby, navigate to the 'Social' menu (often represented by a friends icon).
    • Select 'Add Friends'.
    • Enter your friend's full Activision ID, including the numerical tag (e.g., GamerTag#1234567).
    • Send the friend request. Once accepted, they will appear on your Activision Friends list.
  2. Invite to Party:
    • Once your friend is on your Activision Friends list, select their name.
    • Choose 'Invite to Party'.
    • They will receive an in-game invitation to join your squad.

With cross-play and cross-progression, Warzone ensures a connected and persistent experience, letting you focus on securing those victories with your squad, no matter where or how you play.
