If you're eliminated in Battle Royale (and not Plunder or Resurgence), you get one chance to redeploy by winning a 1v1 fight in the Gulag. Mastering this mini-game is crucial for staying in the match.
Gulag Mechanics:
- 1v1 Duel: You'll face another eliminated player in a small, symmetrical arena.
- Random Loadouts: You'll be given a random, pre-set loadout, usually consisting of a pistol, shotgun, or SMG, along with a lethal and tactical grenade.
- No Perks: Perks are disabled in the Gulag.
- Overtime Flag: If neither player is eliminated within a time limit, a capture flag appears in the center. Capturing it wins the round.
- Spectating: While waiting for your turn, you can spectate other fights and throw rocks at the combatants (which can stun them slightly).
Gulag Strategies:
- Listen for Footsteps: Sound is incredibly important. Listen for your opponent's movements to anticipate their push.
- Use Your Equipment: Don't hold onto your grenades. Use your tactical (Stun/Flash) to disorient, and your lethal (Frag/Molotov) to flush out or deal damage.
- Aggression vs. Patience: Some players prefer to push immediately, while others wait for their opponent to make a mistake. Adapt to your opponent's playstyle.
- Aim for Headshots: With limited health and often weaker weapons, headshots are critical for quickly downing your opponent.
- Overtime Flag: If the timer is running out, prioritize capturing the flag. Be wary of enemies waiting to ambush you at the flag.
- Practice: The more you play, the more familiar you'll become with the various Gulag layouts and weapon combinations.
Objective: Win your 1v1 duel to redeploy back into the main match and rejoin your squad.
