Each main level contains three Super Gems, and collecting a certain number of them is required to unlock new episodes and bonus levels. They are often hidden in clever locations, requiring careful camera rotation and puzzle-solving. The ultimate key item is the Power Star, which is the primary objective of each level. Collecting the Power Star completes the level. Coins are also important; collecting 100 coins in a level often fulfills a bonus objective and rewards you with an extra life.
