Julius Mode: Full Walkthrough
Once you've completed the main story of Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, a new challenge awaits: Julius Mode. This mode allows you to play as Julius Belmont, a powerful vampire hunter with a distinct set of abilities and a more direct approach to clearing Dracula's Castle. This walkthrough will guide you through Julius's unique journey, highlighting key differences from Soma's playthrough and offering strategies for overcoming the castle's formidable inhabitants.
Julius Mode bypasses the soul-absorbing mechanic. Instead, Julius wields his trusty whip, the Vampiric Holy Water, and a powerful Cross. His primary attack is a rapid whip combo, and he can throw Holy Water for ranged damage. The Cross is a powerful projectile that can be thrown in an arc. Mastering the timing of these attacks is crucial, as you won't have the diverse magical arsenal of Soma.
The castle layout remains the same, but the enemy placement and boss encounters may be adjusted to suit Julius's abilities. Early areas like the Castle Corridor and Mines will feel more straightforward, with Julius's raw power allowing him to dispatch enemies quickly. However, areas like the Clock Tower and the Tower of Sorcery will still demand careful navigation and precise combat.
When facing bosses, focus on Julius's strengths. His whip has excellent reach for close-quarters combat, and the Cross can be used to chip away at enemies from a safe distance.
