Beyond 1-Ups, many stages contain secret passages leading to rooms filled with hearts, sub-weapons, or even full health restoration items (Meat). These rooms are often concealed behind breakable walls or floors. Here's how to find some of them:
- Breakable Blocks: Many seemingly solid blocks can be destroyed with your primary weapon. If a block looks out of place or has a slightly different texture, try attacking it.
- Hidden Alcoves: Some areas have small, dark alcoves that are difficult to spot. Jumping or attacking into these areas can reveal hidden items.
- Alternative Routes: Occasionally, a jump that seems impossible or a path that looks like a dead end might lead to a secret area. For example, in Stage 5, there's a section where falling down a specific pit leads to a bonus room instead of instant death.
These secret rooms are excellent for replenishing your resources before a boss fight or for stocking up on your preferred sub-weapon. Experiment with your attacks in suspicious areas, and don't be afraid to explore off the beaten path. The rewards are often worth the slight detour.
