Bodley Mansion, located beyond the marshlands of Jova, stands as one of the most treacherous labyrinths in Belnades. Your primary objective is to navigate its illusory corridors to retrieve Dracula's Eye, an artifact essential for peering through the deceptions spread throughout Transylvania.
Navigating the Mansion
Upon entry, you will face immediate platforming challenges involving narrow ledges over spikes. Use the Holy Water to reveal "fake" blocks; many floors in Bodley are illusory, designed to drop you into pits or lower levels filled with hazards. To reach the deeper chambers, move to the right until you encounter a vertical shaft. You must precisely time your jumps to avoid the moving stone lifts, which are often guarded by projectile-firing statues.
Enemy Encounters
- Slimes: These track along the floors and ceilings. Do not let them corner you in narrow crawlspaces, as their contact damage is high.
- Skeleton Soldiers: These enemies toss bones in arcs. Use your whip to intercept the projectiles or strike from a distance using the Morning Star.
- Devil Knights: Heavily armored and slow-moving, they take several hits to defeat. Use the Laurel for temporary invincibility if you need to pass them in tight corridors.
Acquiring Dracula's Eye
The Mansion’s secret lies in its dead ends. Navigate to the far upper-right chamber of the mansion. Here, you will find a solid wall that appears impassable. Use a Holy Water vial to break the false bricks at shoulder height. This reveals the hidden merchant who sells the Oak Stake (required for all mansions). Once you have the Stake, proceed to the room containing the dark marble pedestal. Stand directly in front of the pedestal and press 'Up' on the directional pad to use the Oak Stake. The crystal will shatter, granting you Dracula's Eye. This relic allows you to see hidden clues and items concealed within town walls and graveyards.
